Column shifter too loosey - how to tighten?
There are basically two things that could cause the shifter to be loose.
1. The bushing at the base of the column, the shift tube rides in this
(Pictures are of a 69 C-Body but the layout is the same)
2. The shifter spring, this is the one that holds the lever in gear. There is also a wave washer but I doubt that would add any play is it was worn or missing.
