I just bought a 2014 5.7 out of a Ram 1500 :blob: and am hoping you guys can help me pick which exhaust manifolds or inexpensive headers to use.

I have been reading the Hemi swap posts until my eyes are crossed but am not sure which exhaust manifolds will work. The driver side factory manifold looks like it would have to go through the firewall to work. I believe I read somewhere that the exhaust manifolds on 2009 and up are different than 2003-08.

The plan is to put this into a 67 or 71 Dart.
I have a flaming river manual steering box to install at some point. Not sure if this allows more clearance than a stock manual box.

I have two k frames to choose from.
73 up slant and 73 up v8.

I believe the TTi mounts are the motor mounts I will use unless someone has some ideas to share on what else to use.

Any advice is appreciated.

Mike

I read in the other thread that ralphie had used Jeep manifolds. Tight fit, but may be an option. The collectors point down instead of to the rear.

As long as those BBK's are made for the cars, I dont think they will fit. They splay out from the motor quite a bit. If you can find them for a Jeep application you may get lucky. Still a crap shoot with tolerances varying from car to car.

you will be a head of the game if you just bite the bullet and buy tti. i tried every mnifold i could find, some could be made to work, but why bother

Thanks cu44da.

Will look and see what I can find out if Ralphie did use the Jeep manifolds.

Was hoping the BBK's would work. They make them for E bodies and B bodies. I guess not enough people doing Abody swaps for them to make them.

Hi MCat,

The difference at the moment is $150. vs $650. :)

I have a feeling you are right about biting the bullet. But it doesn't hurt to ask and look around and see what others have done.

People manage to use factory manifolds on their big block dart swaps. Manifolds from cars other than big block darts. Just thought I would see what is being done out there for the Gen III Hemi. The power advantage from the headers is appealing even if the prices are not.

Thank you.

Mike

I did make the jeep manifolds work, quite a bit of test fitting and grinding, but I'm on a cheap *** budget and it was worth it for me. My engine is stock, and for now it runs good enough that my main issue is traction! If you plan on engine upgrades, headers are probably the way to go if you can swing it, but manifolds fit my needs ok.

Ralphie,

Thanks for the piping in with that.
What year did you use?

Money is going to really tight for me this year. Taxes got me hard for the first time. Not used to being this broke since I was in my teens :)

For the moment it looks like it is going to be very stock. If I can jump this tax hurdle maybe more money will go toward it.

I used 06 grand Cherokee ones, I think you would need 09 or10 grand Cherokee manifolds for your newer ports. I'm not 100% sure the 09 and 10s are shaped exactly like mine, but they didn't change the body on jeeps until 11, so it makes sense that they would be the same exit points.

Thank you Ralphie.

I just read your build thread. Wow! Great job!

Saw the crash, glad you and your son are ok.

If I get mine running I will have to look into wide sticky tires.

Thanks! We lucked out with the accident, got it back together quickly and definitely have been enjoying it. Ohio winter is coming any minute now though :banghead:

Has anyone tried
Patriot Exhaust H8201-1 Tight Tuck Header, Mopar, 5.7/6.1 Hemi, CC
Sku # 447H82011
Mfr. Part # H8201-1

Speedway has them.

I have these in my garage. I am pulling my 360 for a 6.1
I also have ttis for my swap which I will use. I can check fitment when the hemi goes in.
If anyone is interested, I have two sets, new, I will sell.

I'm in the process of a 6.1 swap, 68 Barracuda. I just picked up a full pull out 2010 Challenger, Engine, Trans (6 Speed) wiring, computer, dash.
Trying to get all issues worked out. not sure what headers will work with right side starter, and stock suspension (at this time) I do have a QA1 K member. Not sure if I'm going to use it. Torsion bars seem to be an issue with right side starter trying to find headers.
I have a machine shop at my house so some of the fabing I can do, the wiring and computer is a different matter.
Keep me posted on your build. Need all the input I can get.
Thanks

I messed up with my last post, honestly. My checking fitment won’t help you at all, I am doing the swap in an e body.
I am doing a 6.1, Holley HP, 518(possibly changing my mind to a41)

No,
Too many life events. Illness, my dad became ill and passed away, trouble at work. Like many people I wish just surviving for a while.

I did buy a QA1 K member and a one of the wiring harness computer kits from Mopar. Problem is I found out the kit will not work with a truck engine : ( So now I am in a position where I need a different engine or different wiring computer kit.

CichliDart,

Brother I am sorry to hear that. One thing I have learned is these old Mopars can be Therapeutic at times. Trust me, I well know.

Don't stop working on it man.....

If the reason you can't use the truck engine is because of the number of teeth on the crank reluctor ring, then you can change out to a reluctor ring with one that has the correct number of teeth.
