White letter problem with bf goodrich tires

-
All you have to do is call bf goodrich and they will contact a dealer in your area to have them replaced. It does not matter where you bought them.Tire shops that are dealers for bf goodrich has to replace them per bf goodrich. They gave me no hassle.

The white lettering on my new bf goodrich ta tires are dull on my back tires and the front are white except on the outer edges they are dark and will not come off.The bf goodrich rep at the good guys show said the oils in the rubber was bleeding through and to let the dealer i bought them from know.I did and i do not think they are going to do anything.Any one have this problem and what did you do

Downser, when I posted this same prob. On 4ABodyOnly, really thought I was the only one out there. Apparently not. RESOLVE:
CONTACT BF GOODRICH (now owned by MICHELIN) @ this #
(866) 866-6605. I can ALMOST PROMISE YOU...They've not only heard of issue before...They will do a claim for you to take your brown-lettered tires & bottom line, their covered, guaranteed, at a dealer of your choice, as long as they work w/BFGoodrich. Don't fret, like I did -big time- make the call

--DID TRY BLEACH WHITE-4 solid attempts...I give. Contact BFG, they work with you to settle THE BIG ISSUE. Why a big issue? You bought white lettered tires, damnit, send me...White Lettered Tires. (Had to get that out of me system, sorry dude) &Thanks for listening. Thank you too for the advice. BLEACH-WHITE won't work, oh God, I tried.

to clean them, Bar Keepers friend.

To do it right and be down with the discoloration, tredwear.com
I have seen them up close in person, looks nice and original

Now if you can get them exchanged from BFG, thats a no brainer

I also have that issue with the rears on my Swinger. I contacted BFG on Facebook and they told me to contact a local dealer and also gave me the number for the dealer to call for adjustment. Thanks BFG.

The white is molded into the tire as white rubber, if the oils are seeping through from the back, how does cleaning or sanding the surface help? If only the tops are staining, the oils in the tread cap are in fact leaching into the white casing. Just get them replaced and get some free new tires. Burn rubber all the way to the dealer....even if your not the original owner, its a BFG issue, not a dealer issue. They can just write you off to BFG recall and they get it all back

Exactly, I bet thousands have had the same issue and not all tires are effected. I have only scrubbed my fronts once since I bought them all a couple years ago. The rears I have never been able to get clean. Sams Club is a dealer here.

I don't know, but it did work, and they stayed white for a few months. I got rid of them however, replaced by red-line tires by Diamondback.

A few months ago I looked for replacements on ebay. I wrote to one seller and asked production date and they were 44th week of '15 so I passed.
I would shop around to find the newest available.

**** Sorry All bought 2 rear from Jegs, not Summit ****
Yep, I wanted to resurrect this because I might have found a cure, at least it worked for mine.

I had the problem of the white lettering being a brownish tint, some more than others. I naturally scrubbed myself to death with 409 and other things, still looked like a tar stain or something.

I was cleaning my windshield rubber for the dart with brake fluid before reinstall glass...…… turned around and scrubbed the white letters with it, and, presto! white letters as you would expect just thought I bring it back up and pass it on.

Mine are brown on my car, tires maybe have 100 miles on them.

I bought four tires from Jegs, and installed them in the start of May, so far the white letters are still bright white. They have a 2019 date code on them, and I used brillo to remove the blue off the letters.

Mine are 5 or so years old and they won't stay clean.

I'll give it a try. Brake clean and acetone kind of works but not for long. My fronts were purchased the same time and in 5 years I haven't cleaned then with anything other than car wash soap. 255 60-15's had defects. May be other large sizes too.

Just an FYI, White letter radial tires have been turning brown since the early seventies. The same with white wall tires. They are made exactly the same, the white layer of rubber is just thicker on the R.W.L tires.

Take some 240 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a flat sanding block, and wet-sand the discolored rubber off the letters or the whitewalls (only!). All white letters and whitewalls have this discoloration problem, and have had it forever. This is the only thing I've found that really works, and if you are careful the sidewalls and your wheels will not be damaged. Can't say the same for brillo pads, harsh chemicals, etc...

I have tried bleach white and everything else i can think of.For the money you have to pay for them you should not have this problem
I have the same problem. Might just turn them blackwall Disappointing

Four Goodrich tired, all 4 have brown at top edge of where PURE WHITE, should be. I am calling BF Goodrich, see what their response is. QUALITY CONTROL @ GOODRICH, should have never ALLOWED TIRES WHERE WHITE LETTERS, are brown, leave the Goodrich plant. I said it before, I'll say it again, whom else has this problem with BF GOODRICH WHITE LETTERS WITH A BROWN DYE OR, LACK OF WHITE. Tires are not cheap, less your buying one at a time. Yes, old school BF Goodrich white letters, they should qualify for NEW SCHOOL ALSO. Anyone else with the issue? Please let me know. This is a PRIME EXAMPLE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, if you were to ask me.
Same here. Mine look bad
