slant six radiator

I can’t answer your question but maybe SlantSixDan might have an idea.

I had a local company take a 22 in early A V8 radiator, recore it to 3 cores and then add the slant hose fittings to where they would have been if the factory had done a 22 in slant radiator.

Charrlie, Are you looking for a O.E. application or just a replacement ?
If replacement I installed one from a 80 Aspen in my 63 Valiant.Fit well, just some bracket adjustment.More surface do to larger core.Got it from Car Quest around $170.

If you don't care that it's aluminum aftermarket, I found one from Champion that fit other than having to make new mounting holes. I have the model number somewhere in my files if you need it.

Please, Yes.
That's actually what I'm trying to find. The OEM style or recores are too expensive for a bracket race car. Most of the aluminum ones I have seen on line state "will not fit six cyl".

Good thing I am a packrat, I had it on my phone. The radiator is a Champion, model CC2374B. This is a different application but it did fit my 66 Valiant pretty easily. You will need to get new hoses too for it, Napa 8943 and 8631. Feel free to give a PM for the details on this.

Charlie,
Now that I'm home and able to search in a real computer, here's the write-up I did for the radiator swap into the Valiant. It should answer any questions you have. If not, again, feel free to shoot me a PM.

66 Valiant slant six radiator upgrade/swap

Thanks a lot. I need to call Champion, as that number radiator does not show up. The number does, but not with a "B".
PS: Did some research on the hoses.
NAPA 8631 = Gates 21914 for a 1991-2000 Chevy C-1500 PU, 5.7L lower hose
NAPA 8943 = Gates 22310 for a 1996-2001 Ford Explorer 5.0L upper hose.

In my 65 Dart, I have a 22"W copper radiator I bought from Autozone ~8 yrs ago. It was listed for a ~72 Dart, which was the first Dart radiator they listed and don't recall for which engine, though mine is a 273 small block. The lower tube is 1.5"D on the R side (passenger), which would be correct for a slant since small blocks were 1.75"D. I had to use a rubber bushing adapter to fit the aluminum water pump (1.75"D inlet) which I switched to. At that time, I was stumbling around and hadn't found this site with its great info. "Should work" for your slant, though the lower tube isn't angled like in most slants. The location of the upper tube (1.5"D all A's) might vary with AC option and year, at least it does in small blocks (use Google Images). But, I paid $200 for the radiator and I think you can get a lighter aluminum one for ~$150.

I do have a slant (1964 Valiant). It came with a thin radiator from who knows what car, but they made it fit. Also had a battery marked "Honda" and M-B pusher electric fan, sort of a Road-Warriors solution. Thus, many radiators could work, though most for newer cars are too short and wide.

I had a 65 Mustang AL aftermarket one fit right in, had to drill 2 holes for mount but that was it. Lower spud was on wrong side through but that wasnt an issue, just used a different hose.
