Bob Betts and Gene Johnson we're the guys doing the voice work on those GLD ads.
When I was doing the advertising at Capital Super Speedway in Oregon, WI I hired them to do my ads after they had a falling out with Broadway Bob. They were quite a team..watching them prepare in the studio was a lesson in how to be a professional announcer.
I knew Broadway Bob pretty well and he was pissed I had "stolen" his guys... Years later we laughed about it.
Remember Broadway Bob, a character for sure. Knew how to get people excited and show up to GLD.\

I spent a lot of time at GLD in the 70s. Nothing like watching nitro cars run at night, very good memories.
I believe 1984 or 85 on Labor day weekend a jet car flew off right lane into trees killing driver.
I remember tow truck hauling the cockpit cage unit (only thing left) out of area to continue racing...…….Sad but very real.
