When I had a Super Six set up installed, the only thing missing was the throttle linkage. My mechanic crafted a basic bike cable set up which breaks at the clevis attachment yearly. Any ideas for a great system I can install?

is your top cable eye mount floating or is it rigid? Make it pivot to put less to no rotational stress on the cable. I bet thats what is breaking it.

From your Avatar it looks like an early Valiant vert. Me too.
Same year V-8's had a cable operated linkage. You can get a V-8 pedal from someone on here.
About 2 months ago SlantSixDan posted the appropriate throttle cable sourced from Amazon. I bought one and the part number is ATP Y156.
I'm still collecting parts for my Super Six conversion.

I would love to make it pivot but where do I begin the search for cable parts like that? I tried bicycle stores and no luck.

As they said at Lokar, "We have nothing that will work for you, sorry"

No, they have nothing specifically made for you. You will have to fab and make something work. That's hot rodding. Several people have used Lokar cables on here and made them work well. You just keep on letting other people dictate what you do and you'll never get it done.

Listen to Rusty. Get the lokar cable. Using it on a slant is a little different than the traditional V8 but still doable. I ran one on my '73 camaro and another on my dart. They're nice and I got the" midnight series" so it's all black and blends in.

Oreillys has a Mr gasket or similar branded lokar knockoff. My buddy used one on a foxbody mustang and kept breaking them. He's basically an idiot so I'm sure he had it adjusted wrong. Might be worth a shot though.

Thats quite a claptrap you got going on there.
Rip out all that junk and go with a cable right from the pedal.
Even a setup from any later model car will work with some fab work.

You may just want to look into a stock 65 V8 or slant with A/C throttle pedal. It will have a cable already to go, even a pedal from a 80's Ford would have the cable already on it and it mounts with a single bolt to the firewall IIRC.

Pretty cool mechanic. You see creative things like that in developing countries. A Lokar setup is easy, but where is the fun in that?
