Ok so I'm ready to buy a radiator and not sure what to go with... Im hoping someone can steer me in the right direction on this one.
64 Cuda 408 - 490 horse on the dyno, Tremec 5 speed.

What's size is working for you 408 guys?
Who do you guys think is building the best rad? I'm willing to pay a little more for made in USA.

Thanks in advance

There is only one Griffin out of Georgia
I just put one in my 67 Barracuda 340 it cools very well here in central MO with the A/C on.
Get the 2 row 1 1/4 inch core model
The "Exact Fit " models are no where close to a drop in fit, I suspect you will want a cross flow model
Good Luck

Wooo $770 , $1300 with shroud and electric fan those are pricey!

The very best custom built radiator in the USA is built right hear in Kingman AZ by SKIP'S PRECISION WELDING. His quality is unmatched in performance and durability. Before you place a order give Skip a call ( 928 200 8003 ) and talk with him about his performance products, you won't be sorry.

There might be a Griffin out of GA but there is one in Piedmont, SC.

I drove 15 something miles and picked my rad from them for my 67 Barracuda. Fit perfectly without mods and cools very well. Even the temps inside the car dropped!

Have had the rad for 7 years and it has worked flawlessly.

Not to hijack your thread, but, what cam and lifters did you use in 408?

Champion radiator..excellent fit and finish:thumbsup::thumbsup:
In my 69 with 408. In Southern California, Keeps it nice and cool, right at the thermostat setting. Maybe a little higher in heavy traffic and heat.

You are getting a RAPED price, even summit racing has crossflows cheaper than that! I gave around $300 for my GRIFFIN 28x19 crossflow . w/ 2 rows of 1/4" tubes. About the biggest that will fit a 68 fish, might squeeze in a 29 tho. I also bought an alum. shroud for that rad. from summit for around $68 . I did have to rework it tho for my set up.

This Made in the USA OER Two Core Aluminum Barrel top Radiator sure works Very well for me in the Arizona desert keeping my 65 'cuda cool even in the summer months... Sold by Classic Industres....

Then... This is the Hayden clutch fan I use.... I did net need an electric fan... Also I was able to attach my stock 65 fan shroud to the OER .... By the way, the stock Mopar radiator cap fits the OER Mopar radiator... Just Saying...

This is the unit I was looking at from Griffin, not a cross-flow, Does a cross flow cool that much better?

Hey bud, u are going to have trouble getting
A big enough radiator with the size of ur grill. I have a 64,408,w/ vintage air. I live in
Phoenix. I have a triple pass,w8 blade water
pump. I can't run the a/c car runs @220.
I have chopped as much of the core support. A lot depends on were u live, and ur
accessories. Here is a pic.

Im not really sure Im hoping I'll be able to without any cutting, mine is a non AC car and I live in South Dakota, but i want to be able to drive it where ever and not worry about it, for your case I would think 220 is warm but not overheating, I know there are some good threads on FABO about what is and isn't to hot for LA motor. In my case I wouldn't get to worried about 220 in stop and go traffic as long as it cools right away when moving and doesn't get any hotter. What temp thermostat are you running? And what are you running for a fan? BTW awesome looking setup you got there!

Thanks, 220 is hot, but drive able here, we use
thicker oil to help. If I get into it hard,it will jump
up to 230! Dangerous. I have a 3300cfm puller fan.
There are (3) schools of thought on t-stats.
1). Run a low setting 165 and get the flow going
quickly.
2) run a higher tep t-stat, like a 185 or 195. Hold the
Coolant in longer.
3) Run a restriction plate in stead of a t-stat, so constantly flow fluids.
The last is mainly for circle tract racing w/ electric
water pump. (Not for every day driver.) Elect pumps
are not designed to run all the time.
I am in cat 1 moving to 2 to see if it helps.
350 miles on build!!

I put an OER radiator in my 1970 duster and so far it is working fine! my question is, where did you get the fan shroud from and will it work on my 1970 Duster?

Well, the shroud I am using came with my 65 'cuda ... Part of the heavy duty cooling package... Back then they were a Two Piece Metal Shroud... I was able to make different clamps to get it to fit my new OER Radiator!!! I don't think it would work on a 70 and up A body Radiator... as they changed where the inlet and outlet is and the size, from what mine is... Sorry, but happy the OER is working (cooling) fine for you !!! :)
Note: I was driving my 65 'cuda this past Saturday in 113° ~Heat~ and I'm happy to say all is fine with my OER aluminum Radiator as well !!! :)
