Help with windshield and rear glass install. Anyone do this themselves?

Can someone help me run through the process of re installing front and rear glass. My painter removed the glass without my permission, and now im left to find someone to reinstall. I called a local glas shop and they wont touch it and claim it requires discontinied retaining clips....would love any insight

Not sure what car you are working on.....

I did both my front and rear glass myself. ( 1974 dart swinger) I purchased the stainless trim retaining clips online and re-used my rubber seals.

LOTS of soapy water, and even more patience..... using plastic tools that were kindly given to me by the local glass shop. ( he had boxes of the things)

one pro-tip he gave me....after the glass is in place, BEFORE the water dries out of the seals, or you drive it....

SLAP THE HELL out of the glass with the palm of your hand. This causes vibrations that will allow the glass to balance out and relieves tension/stress spots.

I did not slap the glass on my 86 D150....brand new glass stress crack right through the middle of the pane.
