Well I've posted a few threads on making big changes on my duster as far as cutting the roll bar out and putting more Street Trim in the interior. Also trying to make it a little bit more streetable. It seems as I haven't been able to do that! LOL Alas I have to change the cam. It was great it is great but it's served its purpose and no longer performs the way I want it to.
I had a conversation with Ken at Oregon cam Grinders this morning and it looks like I'll just be pulling the cam out and giving it to him to make it smaller. Really no other way around it.
The final straw was yesterday going out to a major Cruise and of course the borderline overheating and the inability to crawl along at an idle. Also the radically too loud exhaust. All this is fun for my friends and me and the dragstrip but using the car more with my wife and going to crusens and such and maybe wanting to go grab a bite to eat afterwards is just not doable.
So along with the cam change will likely come along with just going ahead and put in the mechanical water pump in and likely just a mechanical fan and put my shroud back on. Also some Mufflers with some kind of muffle LOL instead of glass packs that pretty much are straight pipes also..
Mechanical Camshaft Specifications
So I posted that link there to Oregon camshaft website for the different mechanical cams that are available through them. If anybody would like to give me their thoughts that would be great. I have the 175 cam and I'll post a quick picture of it specs with my 1.6 rockers.

I'll go ahead and give a list of things here via voice command. It's a 360 bored 40 over with a scat cast 4" crank scat I beam rods and icon forged pistons with total seal rings. I'm about five thousand above the deck. 596 heads mildly massaged with 202 intake valves. Hughes rockers. 4 Speed 410 Dana with a spool.
Of course I plan to go to the track and race hole in the hood but again that's just bracket racing I could do that with it freaking Fiat!
Anyways I was hoping that collectively this could be narrowed down to just a couple two three cans and not selection and maybe a discussion on why? Or an argument I don't care LOL anyways food for thought thank you for everybody and anybody's comments and suggestions...

I would not change the cam cuz it is similar to my no problem comp 20-249-4, 260*/260* at .050", .550"/.550" , 110* lobe sep, in at 107*. 3040 # vehicle, 4.30 gear, a833, 750avs, stock radiator-runs around 195* with lame light mechanical fan and 5" lower moroso aluminum pully. 11:1 with 3418915 heads and .050" quench. n9y or 53 plugs. 37 total advance. 11.6 at 116 thru the 2.5" edelbrock muffs

Ken started Lo (under 500 lift) and then went a notch below what I have and started working his way down LOL but we did end up just saying that I'll pull it and give it to him and try and keep the base Circle the same so I don't have to play with my pushrods. I definitely haven't made a full decision yet so it's not like I've decided completely on what I want and I'm just looking for someone to agree with me. But, I do want something different that's for sure. I'd like to take more advantage of the stroker torque down low.
I'd like to know if I'm over working my valve train as I'm not sure my head's flow enough? I know it it doesn't hurt to have extra lift except for just over working the valve train unnecessarily.

It won't hurt to take a bit of lift away. That always makes life a bit easier for the springs.

You are on a relatively tight LSA. If you can spread the LSA a bit it will idle smoother. I'm sure Kenny will come up with something that doesn't kill a bunch of power and makes driving a bit more pleasant.

No problem cam? (Some confusion could be blamed on me putting this in this part of the forum?) LOL Anyways I've done a best of an 11.48 and the car has done in excess of 120 in the quarter mile. I've cut out the roll bar and put in a full interior. I'm not expecting to do that again soon. I'm really looking for some more comfortable Cruise time along with my bracket racing. Again I'm not chasing a low number anymore. The leader in the points in the category that I race in does like a 15.7. (sandbagger in a Ford Mustang with his brake lights disconnected) I swear I'm going to write 15.7 the next time I go against him! LOL that should blow his mind!? We'll probably be sliding 8 Wheels locked up going through the finish line LOL

You are following my footsteps..... I too, my good fellow, got sick of the rough idle cams, 4.30 gears, 3500 stall converters, headers, blah blah blah for joy riding on some of my rides. Now I have smooth idles, no headers, highway gears, stock converters, and a much more enjoyable car on the street.
But....... BUT.......
I cannot leave well enough alone. I'm going to see what I can wring out of highway gears, manifolds, and a smoooooth idling cam in a full weight Duster. AND, I'm having more fun with these restrictions I've placed on my self with this project!

Wow! Let's cruise around July 4th when hosehead is in town! Lol.
I'm sorry you're so far away I'm having trouble hearing you, but did you say you're coming on the 4th of July to help me put the cam in???

^^^I already have a wife with double standards! LOL I don't need my friends that way to! LOL

You're right! And trust me I will put no blame on my wife at all because she wants me to have it exactly the way it makes me happy. She was not complaining a bit yesterday. Well I take that back one time she said whoa whoa take it easy LOL but only once. Never once did she mention it's too loud or too radical. Even if I do say I'd like it more comfortable for my wife it's really me...

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't help get the heavier car out of the hole and get a little more torque from some back pressure in the exhaust and a little bit more help from the cam.
A man can have his dreams...

If hose head is coming to PDX for the Fourth of July and really be there...my goat smelling *** WILL be there to!!! Seriously. I'm motivated.

Maybe we can get the pig there. And what about fishmens67? He can drag his stank self over here for some fun. And when the night is over, I know where we can go for come old time street drag racing. BRING CASH BITCHES. NO DO OVERS, MULLIGANS OR OTHER CRAP.

LETS MAKE IT ROLL. IM ON IT TOMORROW LIKE I WAS ON...I can't say that about my wife here. I can't drive without my balls.

Just be there. Damn, I'm excited. Time to wake the wife up with an after Midnight surprise!!!!!!!!!

WRONG thread! I need cam help for realzies...
Take your excitement elsewhere please....

I'm subscribed...… Like to see how street friendly you make your car, and see what it still runs. I went down the same road, and have not been sorry.

Honestly I believe it's going to make the motor a little less mismatched. I just went for the most radical cam I can think of and learned what it does and how cams affect Motors. It was worth every penny. That's how I learn most my lessons anyways lol the hard way I just hope for it to be somebody else and learn off of them LOL.

I think the worst for me was the steep gears. I got so sick of going down the road sounding like I was in 2nd gear, got the muscles in the back of my neck tense. lol

I don't understand a single word you just said, lol.
