Can anyone tell me how long the axel flange studs are suppose to be on an A-Body8 3/4. These are the studs that hold the brake backing plates on the axel housing.
I have a housing that is missing these studs, and the replacement studs I have seem too long.
The new studs stick out 1 1/8th inches, from the out side of the flange, is this right,???. Seems to long.
Thanks Dave

I really don't think that it matters how long they are. Just thinking you have a backing plate, two gaskets and the bearing housing flange, plus nut. As long as the studs do not hit anything, you are OK. The axle is over 2"from the bearing flange.

Thanks Steve. Havn't put it together yet, and was thinking they were a little to long. I figured they wouldn't interfere with anything.

Just make sure that the studs have one side cut down to clear the axle housing, the head if kept round will interfere with it seating.

Steve yes, they do have a flat side on the head. I installed themallready, just got done.Used an impact wrench, For the last 1/8th in. Like I said they stick out 1 1/8th in, after install.
