How much ET will i pickup with following changes

-
Yea. Buddy told me i have only had the car out a single time and need to do more testing and trying things before i can assume anything concrete.
I think he is dead on.
That or i can just quit waiting on the new trick flows and throw my cam and topend on the 12.75 to 1 compression 418 i have waiting in the wings. The eddies i have are 57cc so that zero deck flattop would definately up my squeeze.....but with these little heads it will wheeze last couple hundred feet i am sure. Then the convertor for sure will need tightened up, and bigger headers.

Just talked to a buddy of mine who is way sharper than me. Thinks this used tranny i bought on here is slipping going into high gear. Need to adjust the bands and try again.
Car was identical to the 60 foot and to the 1/8 mile last night. And the 1/8 mile MPH on all the passes was nearly identical. All just over 94 mph, all 7.20 or 7.21.

Kinda tossed this idea in the garbage can. If it was slipping it wouldnt get better, and the car is in high gear well before the 1/8, and the 1/8 numbers were good, and consistent.
Just think the vert is too loose

If it keeps loosing MPH, I would tend to think the trans is going away... hopefully not. Very similar to my buddies dakota after he swapped in a 904, ran great and picked up a 2 tenths off the trailer but same MPH, but 5 passes later is was loosing 1-2mph every pass. After tear down, it was very evendent.

Car gained MPH on every pass the other night

I would say bigger headers as well but first things first.
Also, the static comp ratio of 10.4-1 seems a bit light for that 260@050 cam. But that makes it an EZ pump gas mill. I get it there.

All in all, your having fun so it’s all good.
Keep enjoying! FTW!

Test and tuned Fri night, raced Sat night.
All passes were in the 11.30’s. Car now 60 footing 1.54. Nice improvement over the old trans/ convertor. Best a 32 at 117.70. So now it runs in summer air like it did in mineshaft air last year. Guess i cant complain too much
Based on whats its running compared to last year, i suspect in mineshaft air like it ran the 11.26 last year its gonna run somewhere between 11.08-11.12 or so. So swap seems to have netted no more than 1.5 tenths. Could chase the high gear convertor slip i guess but it isnt going to amount to enough ET difference to fool with.
Besides, it will need cut open with the stroker with trick flow heads planned upgrade in the offseason anyhow. Its together, want to enjoy it rest of the season

Forgot.... its runs best shifting at 6200 into second, and 6500 into third. Took some playing, but it stayed in the low 11.30’s shifting it like that. 3 or 4 slower 6200 both ways or 6500 both ways

Man I love that car

Thanks John. Probably see ya later this month at Norwalk. Car still needs paint in the engine bay. Was left flat black.
Will finish that up when i have motor out in the offseason. Got the interior how i want it this past offseason. Its becoming my favorite car i have ever owned. Have had much faster, but this one ticks my boxes. Almost the way i want it. Just engine bay paint and a nice streetable 10.20ish motor to finish it.

I'd like to chime in here, if I may...
Do you know what that 8" converter was made for ??
Reason being, if you calculate it out, you will find that 8" is very inefficient. 6500 rpm to 117 mph is a lot of converter slip.. not trans. This proves out cause when you delayed your high gear shift, you were already well into it's couple speed, sort to speak.
A good/well designed 8" is notorious for being efficient. Years ago in my bracket car, the ATI 8" I used, had merely 4% slip. It coupled great !
Now I have a very similar combo, as yours, only with a TA 10" that flashes 4300 rpm (It is wrong for my current combo, so bare with me) I have a 28" tire and 4.11's, I cross the stripe at 6400 @ 122 mph.
It too is a 904 with a cheetah VB, car/driver 3135# that comes out to about 5.5% with the wrong converter..
Perhaps, let Lenny at Ultimate Converters, Or Sean @ Dynamic, cut the 8" open and fix it for your combo.
These guys have been building record-breaking converters for decades. Beside, 'cut-open' cost less than half of a new TC.

I had the convertor made for this combo when i swapped to the 904
I know its slipping in high gear excessively. But the first 1/8 mile and the 60 foot showed excellent gains.
It needs tightened up in the back half.
Putting a stroker motor in the car in the offseason. Will have it cut open and adjusted to that. Right now just to much going on to take it out and send it out
We just missed on it some. PTC built it for me
