Finally getting to it!!! 1970 Duster 340

I think the blocking process takes the most time.

Factory paint sucks and is best left to the survivor cars. When your car is parked at a cruise night or a show it will be next to a car with nice paint not an orange peeled survivor. To the average person it will look like you went to Maaco.

You better hope it's not parked beside this SURVIVOR.....

Yes John, Steve took my car out to Ohio to have the finish work done. They plan on working on it full force in two weeks. I told Steve that it would be cool if he could bring it to Carlisle for display.
That's a great pic of your car Dave. Do you still have her or did you find a buyer?

Yep, Changed my mind......where would I find another?? Who has your car in Ohio?

Mike Ross is going to finish the Duster. It sounds like he has most of the long blocking done. I think that we will soon be into the home stretch.

I will still be doing the final assembly. Mike asked me to send out the fuel tank, filler tube, straps and J bolts so that he can spray the body schutz. After that, I will be doing the rest of the wrenching.

I know you are very anxious the closer she gets....Can't wait to see it in person......

reminds me of what my wife said about me....but training was mixed in there somewhere.

the excitement sure is building here in FABO land waiting to see the outcome.

Finely came to the realization I have to many cars, so I opened the shop to customers for anything from body/paint to full restorations. Yes, we are helping Steve out on a couple projects he has in house. Kinda use to doing ebodies, dang, this Duster has a bunch of body lines. Definitely takes longer to long block a Duster. Just started painting the Cuda this morning that is in front of the Duster, will take a solid week to get color on everything. After that, a minimum of 50 hours a week will be spent on Kevin's Duster until it's done. We do one body at a time, full time, no screwing around. We do everything in house so there's no excuses.

Wow! Looks awesome! Can't wait to se it all back together and on the road. So great you were able to keep it all these years.

Things are moving along with the Duster. Looks like Mike is almost done blocking. As soon as he finishes the Cuda, the Duster will be heading to the paint booth

I've bought a lot of stuff from many vendors at The Nats, and Mike Ross ranks right up there as one of the best ever. It was when he first started BEA, and I think I got a Challenger Flip Top gas cap from him. Mike impressed me as being an honest and talented guy. Can't wait to see the results!

One of the best guy's in our hobby!

A lot of things have been going on since I last posted. I've been busy working on my garage and part of my basement getting it ready to lay commercial vinyl tile flooring. Last weekend, I spent 17 hours grinding concrete to achieve the correct surface for the best applying the adhesive. I was able to get 1/2 of the garage tiled today. It turned out better than my expectations. I hope to get the rest tiled tomorrow......if my knees can hold out.

Mike finished the project ahead of my Duster and he's been working on it the last couple weeks. The body prep work has been completed. Next week, the car gets blow apart and the painting process begin! It's a good thing that I'm getting the garage ready for her homecoming.

Garage is going to look great Kevin especially when your car is painted and sitting there and you can start putting it together. Thankfully mines finished and I can enjoy driving it now but the reassembly process when your emptying all those boxes and see it looking closer and closer each week is ultra rewarding. Can't wait for it to get painted.

PROGRESSION!

I'm really looking forward to the assembly process. I haven't fully assembled a car before but that's what makes it fun.
