Does anyone have these on your a-body and run a 275/60 with a 10” wide wheel? Specifically drag racing?

Right, my question was for the people who have them on their cars. I know what they are used for and why. Thanks.

I changed my first question to make it more clear of my thoughts bob lol

What body style A-body? I assume you’re talking about the 3/4” or 1/2” offset hangers/shackles and not a full 3” relocation.

And what are you asking really? Do you want to know if there’s enough clearance for those tires? Are you concerned about suspension geometry? How it changes spring rate requirements?

I use 1/2” offset hangers on my Duster, I run 295/35/18’s. Not drag racing, but there’s no reason I couldn’t. Tire clearance requirements for drag racing are less than what’s needed for the street. Narrowing the spring spacing does change the forces acting on the springs a little (longer moment arm from the center of the tire patch to the spring), but with just an offset that effect is pretty minimal. With a full relocation it’s a little more significant, but that’s just a spring rate and shock length/dampening adjustment.

And you don’t want to run 275/60/15’s on a 10” wheel anyway. The recommended rim width is 7.5” to 9.5”, and the “measuring wheel” is a 15x8”.

71’ scamp is the car im referring to. I dont want to cut the frame rails, so i started looking at the 3/4in offset hanger kits. Im putting a different rear under the car, so moving the spring perches was in my plan anywho. Ive got the wheel and tire from my other cars to use, thats why i want to use the 15x10 and that tire.

The odds of a 15x10 from another car having the right backspace to work on that scamp with a 275/60/15 is slim and next to none. Unless you’re going to do a custom width rear axle just to fit those wheels. Which seems like a lot of work to do just so you can run the wrong size rims with the tires you want.

Even with the offset shackles a 275/60/15 is the upper limit for what will fit on a Scamp without cutting anything. You’d be way better off putting those 275’s on a 15x8 or 15x9.

Not to get into a pissing contest ( plus I’m heading out the door to the Social Distortion show) but most drag radials are good mounted on 10 inch wheels...

That’s fine if you just want to run drag radials I guess. I just assumed he actually wanted to run street tires.

And either way the quarter clearance would be better on a slightly narrower rim. Depending on the actual dimensions of the OP’s factory wheel tubs he might need that extra little bit of clearance.

A GREE W/ THE ABOVE INFO^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
LOWER THE AIR PRESSURE FOR NARROWER RIM.
I run the offset hangars on my 68 fastback, no problems. I run 275 60 15`s on 8" wheels, or 295 60 15`s on 8" wheels. I have massaged the whole set up. I have stretched front wheel wells that have the stock curvature, offset on the wheels had to be perfect. The 8''wheels are a little narrow for 295`s but work ok w/ lower air pressure on the street. No dragstrip so far.
U know those wheels in the pics are heavy enough to hurt ur performance a hair don`t u ?

you mean my beautiful small bolt pattern slotted mags?! lol they arn't staying on it.

Thanks for the replys guys! ill be measuring and trying my options this week,
