Putting a cam in my 340 and the 4 retainer bolts none have a hole drilled through.
Any suggestions?
Can I leave the top left bolt out?
Thanks Mike .

amazing that the factory tensioner is held in by 3 bolts....but the retainer takes all 4...LOL....

I have left that top bolt out many times...

Yep. Have two that way right now.... but I use the dripper

Thanks for all the replys, l ended up drilling a bolt. Took 3 drill bits and about 45 min.
What a pain .

You would have been better off drilling a small hole in the retainer plate. The bolt with the hole does nothing.
and most from the factory didn't even have a bolt with a hole.....

I haven't put the timing set on yet .
So it would be easy to drill a hole in the plate.
How big of a hole would you recommend?

Is it ok to just put it back together the way it was from the factory? Does It not get enough oil stock? Just wondering im gonna be putting mine back together soon.

My thought is that if I can make it better while I am at this stage, why not.
