looks like Dart is going to be making new blocks for the small block MoPar engine.
That's great news!

This was sent to me from a social media page a few weeks ago. I know nothing else about it.

I got depressed looking for a good 360 block core for my Stocker.
Went through 4 blocks, none would clean up @ .060.
Rust was the problem.
So I pulled the trigger & ordered a new 360 R block.
Found it was discontinued.
Luckly, found a guy in Texas that had a new virgin 360 R Block that he made me a good deal on.

I think Dart could do a good job with these but I am not holding my breath for it.
As stixx said, this comes up every now and again and usually fizzles out.

That screenshot is bullshit. Nobody uses AOL anymore.

Don't hold your breath. Dick Maskin isn't stupid. He will see the cheap *** Chrysler people won't spend money on a block. He'd be a complete fool to cast a block. Especially a small block.

Why more people don't use the Ritter block stumps me. I doubt Maskin can do it much cheaper than the Ritter block.

I stop having any interest in Athens Ritter block when all I read was problem after problem after problem after problem.

The extreme amount of machine work on top of an expensive block has made it cost prohibitive for me.

I've never seen a block that didn't require machine work. Not one. Every single block I've ever bought and used had to be decked, line honed, the hone at minimum touched up, the cam bore verified...all that. There is no such thing as an off the shelf block. Just like there isn't an off the shelf head.

He did have some early issues with pin holes or something. That's typical. Dart has been around long enough most have forgotten about early issues.

If you look, you'll find guys bitching about Dart blocks too.

It wasn’t THAT machining but above and beyond work that had me say. “Why?!?!”

So, school me on where a Ritter block stands!
Cost?

The Ritter blocks at minimum require a ton of work to be usuable. Big difference between say prepping a typical R3 for use and a Ritter block. Talk to literally anybody who has a Ritter block for verification of this.
The guys who have undertaken trying to make a Ritter block usuable all have horror stories to tell.
I wont say they are junk, but whatever one small step better than junk would be called, thats where they are at.
That all said, i have heard the latest versions are somewhat better, but still a handful. Poster “ white dart” would be a good guy to ask about them. Only a handful of those blocks in actual running use.
Regards the Dart block, dont hold your breath, mighty unlikely to happen

Thanks for verifying. I’m not interested in a challenge. Nor is my machinist.
I do Appreciate the efforts being under taken by Mr. Ritter, But.... the block is not ready for consumption by this guy.

There is a guy who has posted on Moparts who has built 2 of them..... Ritter block motors.
There is a shop, think its Sherman Racing down in Texas who supposedly know all the tricks to make them work. Have no idea of cost.

I read a bit of a Ritter build on MoParts. I don't think it was the white dart guy but I could be wrong. I guess I'd have to go back and look at all that went wrong.

Think its a guy named Ray Bruckner. He uses a shop in Texas that has gotten two of them running for him that supposedly know how to do it. Sherman racing i think it is.

For me it would be...

Purchase expensive, cost unknown Ritter block and have it shipped from Ritter (where now?) to N.Y. To then ship it to Texas for an unknown amount of work and a unknown cost to then ship it back to New York?

Cost prohibitive!!!!

Stock blocks here I come. It is what it is!
You can’t go faster than your wallet!!!

Haha. You have a habit of making sense brother, keep up the good work. Kinda why my bigger motor in the works i only want to run 10.20’s or so. Faster, need better block and license BS
Been there, done that

Yep...all that takes the fun out of it for me. That's why I sold the race car. I was done. Then my cousin died and I ended up with his car. I have much more fun running low 12's than I ever did going low 9's. Piss on all that crapola.

That said...when I had a chance to buy a virgin X block I snatched it up. I may have a chance to buy a virgin R block and 3.79 stroke crank. If so, that will be my next and last engine and I'll use my W-2 heads for that one.

Yep. I have tested different combos after changes on the street, and it takes me a good 3+ tenths to notice any difference in the seat of the pants feel..... so i am hoping 10.20’s feels like 9.90’s lol

Thanks! LMAO
I do have hope though seeing some member run really well with stock blocks. Nothing INSANE! But quite quick as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone seems to under estimate a good solid low 12 car. Why this is I don’t know. It’s like 90% of those who knock such a car never ever truly had a car that quick on the street.

While I understand what 600+ HP (small block) feels like in a nice light weight car feels like, it’s awesome, it’s also high stress which is high maintenance. (By compare mild mannered 12/11 second car. Not to mention a big block is better for this IMO.)

My final street engine I’d like to accomplish is a 3.58/340 w/W2 heads @ approximately and no higher than 10-1 on today’s pump swill.
Very well ported heads and a moderate cam will do well as long as the car isn’t nick named “Tubby!”

(2 strokers on deck now, so things will have to wait. 372 (+) Part Accumulation underway,”)
