Just got done rebuilding my Holly on
1972 Dodge Demon. The reason for the rebuild is car was hard to start after setting for more than 15 minutes. Now it runs really rich. Suspect the carb is sucking fuel up thru the accelator pump. An thoughts. Dennis

Can you tell if it's pulling fuel through the pump nozzles when you open the throttle?
Does it run good at idle then go rich with throttle, or vise versa?
Do you specifically remember the one way design of the pump shot?
There is a ball or a little rubber valve in the bottom of the float bowl that only lets fuel go one way from the pump diaphragm into the carb body ports .

Another thing is that you really have to compare gaskets to make sure you used the right ones, as they can be really close but different.

Of course then there is float levels.
