I had a harrowing experience on the expressway in my '66 Barracuda a few days ago. My left front tire let loose & tore up my left front fender, inner fender & lip molding - quite a ride!. I won't know exactly what I'll be needing until the 'body guy' looks at it in early July, but I may be looking for these parts. What do you recommend as to sources? I don't even know what the inner fender looks like. Is it one big piece? Are Early (64-66) A body inner panels (Dart, Valiant, Barracuda) interchangeable? I know the outer fender is unique to the '66 Barracuda, unless the '66 Valiant is the same. I tried Wildcat & Desert Valley with no luck. I'm just trying to get an idea of where to go once I find out what I need. Thanks
 
I don't wanna to come off as an a$$. The car can be fixed or replaced. Just glad you're alright.:thumbsup:

I had that happen on Mother's Day 2015 on the way to work. I was kinda cookin.....unusual for me and my left front tire exploded. I was probably going an honest 60 in a 45. It pulled me all the way across the oncoming lane and into the opposite right of way. Had another car been there, I would have had a bad one. I knew the front tires were older Michelins. They are notorious for the tread lasting so long that the rest of the tire rots around it. That's exactly what happened. I got a set of Yokohama Geolanders aftet that. They are pretty nice.

The early A inner fenders are all the same as far as I know and is spot welded in numerous places on the frame rail, core support, etc. After you determine what you need, place a Want Ad,

Yes, the 66 is a one-year-only deal for both the Cuda and Valiant. Front fenders will interchange, they are identical.

I bought the tires (they looked like new) on a set of Cragar s/s wheels over 10 years ago. They (tires and wheels) looked nearly new at the time & the tread still looks good (on the 3 remaining tires)...no sign of aging - at least nothing I can see. I believe the age, EXTREME heat (over 90), long drive (nearly 500 miles) & steady 70+mph speed combined to put me in this spot. I'm replacing the other 3, even though they still look fine. Today I ordered 4 from Tires-easy.com for a little over $200...free shipping.

Thanks, The fact that a Valiant fender will make my search a little less difficult. I'll wait to see what the body guy says about which way is better...fix mine, or replace it.
 
Lee Robinson has some Early A parts, I needed some inners also. They are attached by about 45 spot welds (well, seemed that many) Get yourself the HF spot weld buster and a 1/8 drill. Predrill each spot weld (or center punch) dead in the middle and the live center will fit in there so it wont skate. did both sides and never even flipped the bit.

I had a set of Michelins on my 1 ton and they had 150.000 miles on them and the rears still had over 1/2 tread on them, unbelievable. The fronts needed replaced but I was amazed how well they held up.
 
In high school, i had a right front tire blow out on my P/U. Threw me right into a ditch. If i recall i was only going around 40 mph. Scared me to death. Ever since then, i replace my tires sooner than needed.
