V852524961....just a 65 4 barrell car, or Formula S? I don't know what's on the fender tag, or if it even still has one. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Great body, with very minimal rust... supposedly factory burgandy color with black interior.

Is this chrome something from the factory, or JC Whitney? LOL

Not an expert by no means on the early A's but that is something I have never seen.
If it's not stock Somebody went through a great deal of time making it. cool though.

lol

That trim is for the 64 although it can be retrofitted to the 65

Thanks Don. It was listed as a 64, but it's definately a 65. It has the 66 trim with the fish in the center, between the back glass and the deck lid. 4 bbl car with factory AC.

The only ways to tell if it’s a true 4 barrel car or Formula S is by the fender tag or build sheet.

Fender tag is going to be the key for the knowing exactly what you got. If the Fender tag has a 30 then its a 2 barrel car. If its a 31 it a four barrel car. This number will be under the AB line in the tag. Formula S could be determined by seeing if its got a tach in the dash. I once bought what I thought was a 2 barrel 65. Turned out it was a 65 formula s that someone not only converted to 2 barrel but also automatic from a 4 speed. Has the large hole in the dash that was filled with an a/m tach. I took a spare formula s tach I have and it fit perfectly. Here is a link that would explain some more info

Thanks guys. I'm kinda hoping it's not a Formula S, cause I kinda want to make it the way I want it instead of a stock resto. I do think it's a factory 4 bbl car, because it has the Commando V8 fender emblems, and it looks to be original paint. It ain't rusted to death, and the interior is pretty nice considering it's original..... so hopefully I won't be disappointed when I see it in person tomorrow .

Does it have the large single exhaust cutout in the rear valence? If so it is a high performance car, Commando or S.

Looks like a possibly once a vinyl roof car too. Rare option. If so, hopefully all the chrome trim is there.

It's painted, and the trim isnsome stick on crap. Part of the aforementioned cobbling....lol. I've been waiting 2 hours for the dude to go get a tire fixed so I can get it on the trailer. I'm in BFE Georgia, and it's hotter'n the hinges of hell!

I have (not installed) the entire 3 pc beltline chrome trim AND the spears plus the back strap across the lock on the trunk. I got a '65 'S'. They (S's) all had tachs. They made a high beltline trim that followed the front fender scallop that looks pretty cool too. I like the spears, makes the rear quarter look a little smaller.

I just got home with it, safe and sound. Jeez, what a long day! 5 hour drive each way, and I had to dink around waiting on the guy to try and get a flat fixed for 4 hours. Then when we put it on, it was flat before we got it winched ip on the trailer. Oh well....it's home. It does have a fender tag, and I'll get the numbers off of it tomorrow, or post a pic if I can get it to show up. Thanks for all the help so far.

Glad you got her home! Must have been in South Georgia, weather was great in North Georgia today. Was suppose to rain and we had clouds, but the temperature was perfect!!

It was S GA. I had to go a little ways below Macon. I suspect that's why it isn't very rusty. Other than a little surface rust, a little in one rear footwell is all I have found.
