Just got my hdk coilover kit installed. Looks great, glad to get ride to the torsion bars.

On the coil only conversion using factory attaching point, we are limited to a shorter shock, normally the Qa1 #DS /DD 303.

Extended ...12.65
Compressed...9.5
Installed height....approx 11"

On the rack and coil conversion, normally the Qa1 DS /DD 501 is the coil over of choice.

Extended....17.00
Compressed...11.625
Installed height....approx 14"

Would you be able to run qa1 lower control arms with this setup or is it required to use hdk lower control arms

You could run the Qa1 LCAs if you added something to secure the rear of the LCA once the torsion bar is removed.....and move the shock mount outward.....and maybe do something with the no longer needed torsion bar hardware on the LCA, . Of course, you could run a factory LCA if you did those mods.
