Sometimes folks do not read everything. I am as guilty as anyone. The OP thought that what I posted was a 383 example, like the posts says it is 426 and now confirmed to be the first one from the Lynch production line that was installed in a RR in 69.

I love to learn from this site and have to unlearn some things sometimes!
 
1968 engines were stamped with the VIN in the location showed above. Early engines and transmission were NOT stamped. The second character is the assembly plant, not the body designation. "G" is St. Louis. Since the sequence number doesn't match your VIN and, to my knowledge, no A-bodies were built in St. Louis that is not your original engine.
