I have a 1974 Dodge Dart Swinger Special Edition 2 door hardtop, with a automatic slant six 225.
Im having trouble looking for a carburetor replacement for my dart. The carburetor I currently have is falling apart, the screws are loose. And also I don't know which carburetor to go with, Ive heard remanufactured carbs are trash so idk Help!!! Or would a rebuild kit help and if so which one??

The numbers on the current carb are
3830402
6938
1264

And on the other side
6R
4360
B

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I have battled bad carbs and crappy re manufactured carbs on slant sixes many times. The solution I have used was to switch them to 4 barrels. Ever since I started to change the mover to the 4 barrel I have had way less hassle. Plus with the 4 barrel you get an electric choke which really helped the cold starts I've gone super six and had the same results. Once in a while I would get a carb that would not give me any hassle but it was rare. It seems the 2 barrel supply for the super six is non existent and you get a 318 2 barrel when you buy a reman no a days.

Would you know what model 4 barrel would work for a 225 slant? And what modifications and/or other parts id need for the 4 barrel to work?

If youre looking for cheap and easy a 4 barrel isnt it.

Id imagine your car is a holley 1945. Should be simple to rebuild with a kit. Welcome to Mike's Carburetor Parts - Your Number 1 Carburetor Parts Store

Im still on my holley 1920 and the car runs great. Rebuild it every few years. Easy

See if its rebuildable. If not then spend $$$$ for a new manifold and carb.

Thanks but yea I think its not rebuildable, the screws don't hold the carburetor together, I'm guessing the thread is worn out because they can't be tightened.

I use the offenhauser manifold and the holley 390 cfm carb both can be purchased from summit racing. Also check out slantsix.com post your question there and see what those guys say.

Running the original carter 1 bbl on mine still. Y’all lucky . Wife won’t even let me buy a 2 bbl. rebuild it. Remember the screw depths. Call it a day.

If it’s stumbling try running it hard through the gears. Sometimes junk get in there and needs a little help getting pushed through.

Any tricks for dealing with leaks around the bowl cover of a 1920?
Had one I "fixed" by using a cork gasket, but that didn't work on the other one.
