I need some help here. I assume I need another pressure just don't know which one. All accessories including hose is off a 1970 Barracuda 318 and all is being installed on a 1971 Demon 340. Both applications show me the same part # for the pressure hose. I'm stuck.

Uh, bend it?

Where is it hitting, on the outboard side, there at the bottom of the photo?

The only way it would clear if it was an absolute 90 degree about a quarter inch from the line nut. No way I could bend it that much within such a short radius without kinking it. It's got be another hose needed I just can't figure which one. Thanks.

which power steering pump do you have? it makes a difference as to which hose you use.

Saginaw, according to the Orielly site, the hose they supplied is correct for the Saginaw pump.

There where two different pumps used. Saginaw and Federal power steering pump. You may have the wrong line for the pump your using.

I have the Saginaw pump. Matching hose. In the picture I am still using the original old hose I got off the Barracuda 318 motor. The new hose is identical. I check parts listing and both 70 Barracuda and 71 Demon show the same hose given theyre both using the Saginaw pump. Thanks

That book has to be wrong. The lines are not the same between the two pumps. I just put one on a Scamp with a 318 and the first hose would not fit. One lines goes in from the back and the other pump it goes in from the front. I'll just and find a P/N for you.

Thanks, I think you may have misread my reply. Same hose as long as it's a Saginaw pump on both different cars. Yes definitely different hose for the Federal as the tips are different. The link you share is helpful. At least I know I'm not the only one LOL. I just wanted an original type solution and avoid having to have a line fabbed. I just want to finish this damn project. Too many road blocks have me frustrated.

LOL working on an A body you get good at fabbing things up to make them fit that's for sure!

Yup, Building Camaro's and Mustangs are for lightweights. But I just want to drive my freaking CAR!! Rant over...

Lil demon I just went through this saga and wasted about $120 then I went to CVF racing and ordered their power steering brackets for a Saginaw pump small block set up, another $120 roughly. Started bolting it up this morning and it's going to fit perfectly. FYI, from my research the Saginaw pumps were weed on 73 and later a bodies.

Wow, interesting. So with the new brackets your pressure hose clears the K-member? I'm going to check into this right now. Would you have any pictures of the install by any chance?? Thanks for the tip!

Use a 1/2" longer belt.
LOL, that's such a simple and brilliant solution. I'm embarassed for not having tried that . I'll check into that possibility but it sounds like it will be the solution. I just need to verify the bracket adjustment slot allows for the pump to push out far enough.

I will try and post a picture today or tomorrow. Yes it mounts the power steering pump up and in towards the water pump to clear the k-member.

Lil demon. Sorry it took so long for me to get a picture posted but I have two family members battling cancer and have been busy. This picture has the hose attached and clears the k member

Sorry to hear about your family's battle. Hope for the best. Thanks for the picture. I had to stop on my progress for the last few weeks so this will come in handy once I get back on it. Thanks for taking the time.

Some people have messaged me asking if I ever found a solution. I found a 90 degree fitting and I just cut the line so it would line up and welded it together. It ain’t pretty but it works. I hope this helps others find a solution to this problem.

Lil Demon, I just read this thread as I am having the same issue with PS pump. 1970 FSM shows both types available, but diagram in manual only shows Federal and its hose routing for 6 and v8 engines. My car is a 70 Dart s6 to v8 conversion using Schumacher mounts, therefore it is a s6 K member. The Saginaw pump I installed first had the same interference problem with the driver side motor mount structure-no room behind pump for installation of the pressure hose. Pulleys lined up perfectly though. I installed a Federal pump and the pulley is 1/2" too far forward. I think it is the wrong pulley, FSM shows a solid pulley and mine has 3 "spokes". The offset from center to V groove is obviously different. I wonder if a v8 K member, with a possibly different motor mount structure, would allow the Saginaw pump the room it needs to the rear for the hose? What K member do you have? I will try to find the correct pulley for the federal pump, and if I can't I will attempt your 90* angle fitting solution with my Saginaw pump. I hope all turned out well for your PS problem.
