My Blueprint crate engine story - May 2018

I have to call BS on the "I can do it cheaper for less than that" I hit $4300 in parts alone W/O ANY block, or machine work AND STOPPED w/o adding more. not to mention a 30 month warranty, and dyno testing. This is in comparison to their aluminum headed long block they sell. you literally can't buy these parts new, And get a block machined, for what they sell you a warrantied, dyno tested engine. that's with zero assembly, or fee's for labor or dyno worked in.

Everyone can argue this point either way, but when you lay it out on paper, unless you own a machine shop, I can't possibly see how anyone can argue there's no value in this.

if you want to go more compression, a bigger cam, ported heads, great...sure you can make more HP, and enjoy your zero warranty, less streetable, self assembled engine. If a rod bolt breaks on your 2nd drive...since some people enjoy building engines so much, or claim its so easy....that's great! you get to do it a 2nd time. lucky you!

now i'm not saying anyone that builds their own engine is a fool. Of course if you have confidence in your skills, then that's awesome. As others have pointed out however, time is money, and its worth the end use to determine if their enjoyment and time of assembling their own engine, to their spec, is worth it in the end. If not, then for all the labor it takes to get on blueprintengines.com and order an engine...you can get one on order. to each their own! But the claim of "I can save big doing it myself" isn't valid if you're comparing apples to apples, with new parts.
