hey folks
long time mopar family here.. my first car was my grandmothers 63 valiant, crooked 6, push button tranny and bucket seats
my wifes first car was a 64 dart, crooked 6, 3 on the tree, 4 door and bench seats,
over the year we had LOTS of mopar more darts and valiants, 72 charger 400 BB, 2 cuda's 72 383 car and a 73 340 car. and 2 little red express trucks ( 1 i wrecked the other i still own although it's been sitting in the barn since 2006) kids came along and momma sold her cuda and bought a K car Aries wagon. then a Neon.. and her last is a 04 durango she still drives.
but in all those years about once or twice a year she'd say.." someday i'd like to have another hot rod dodge"
well a year ago we found out she has small cel cancer, there is no cure for small cel. and last april the doctors said there isn't much m ore they can do for her.
and ironicaly because she is sick and we have so many medical expensise's we got a bunch of money back from uncle sam on our income taxes.
she wanted to do something responcible with the money like put it away so i could pay the mortage and such... the hell with that!!! i went shopping for a HOT ROD DODGE for her.
i found her a nice 72 swinger 340 4 speed (actually a 3 + OD) and 3.32 sure grip
no rust a old repaint but in the original green. not a cobbed together crooked 6 car but a actual 340 car. and gave it to her on our 45th wedding annerversary in May.
she's healthy enough right now to drive it and have fun. and yes she does bark the tires now and then.
i have a dual snorkel air cleaner for it but the top is all dented and bent up and far exceeds my limited hammer and dolly skills. so if anyone know where i might buy one i'd sure appreciate the info..
hello again and thanks
Pete
