Got my Dakota going yesterday. Still have to tune it. The carb seems a little small 600 holley off of a 318 I had. Still have to button some things up to make it road worthy. Back brake line is leaking, some lights are inoperable. 8 1/4 rear. Used to burn both tires, been sitting 10 years and now doesn’t... Going to have to fix that! And the rear end hop, and plan to stuff some rubber up in there

I've actually thought about tryn' to stuff a B/RB into the 01 RAM

Looks good! Nice body. What year is it exactly?
Also, what did you do for exhaust?

Truck is an 88. I used 62-65 B Body manifolds in to duals. I tried cheapo manzo shorties, but had to beat them pretty well only to have the collector dump onto the dipstick.
that's badass without the meats
I grabbed them from my uncle for 500. Rims tires and tubs. Couldn’t pass em up as the tires are 458$ each. Doing the back half isn’t going to happen for quite some time. If it ever does at all. Although I would like to move the springs inward to get 50 series in there. There is a whole lot of space where that spring mount lives between the leaf and frame. That way, if I ever did cut the frame, my mounts and all of that fun stuff, less the perches, will be where I want them.

I would get rid of those 273 manifolds and find a 360 truck or van manifold, 85, to 91 I believe.. much bigger then those iddy bitty 273 sir , love the build sir

The carb is off of my 318. That is a 77 400 bored .030 over with comp cams xe258h cam/gears/springs/lifter kit. .030 whacked off the heads and steel shim gaskets. I think the manifolds were off of a 426 wedge. I had them on my 440 when it was in there, tried to go with shorties but couldnt fit.

Oop's , I am sorry, looks like I was still waiting on my first cup of coffee and thought I seen a small block in your truck.. my bad sir

Did you have to move the radiator forward? Also, have you considered a explorer 8.8 rear? I have a 87 dakota and I put one in my truck. Its about 2.5 in narrow then the 8.25. They are 31 spline, factory posi units with carbon clutches are $230.00 or less. And you can find them with 3.54-3.73-4.10 gears along with disc brakes.
I really do like your truck!!

some Dakotas came with 9 1/4 3.55 or 3.92 sure grip, but they are 6 lug.

Nice going , THAT's HOT RODDING . That thing should tear your head off at launch . If you need a carb I have several cores for cheap . Later , Tom
