The 340 is the biggest POS V8 Chrysler ever made.

I remember Vegas and Monzas being ...eh,junk for lack of a better word. If you were running Chevy, it was Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Impala etc. only thing worse would be trying to make a Corvair into V-8 rear wheel drive, alot of work when there are better choices out there with the drivetrain already there. :)

Corv8 kits are out there making the corvair a true mid engined V8 car with a near perfect 50/50 weight balance. If you get the late 65 up models with true IRS in the back and mid engine it with an LS7, and hang brembos and big meats at all 4 corners, you can have a dirt cheap super car. My pic is the 68-69 corsa 2 door hardtop for that conversion.

Like comparing a 68 dart to a 68 barracuda lol

The Vega was a total POS, except the last year, but Chevy could not give them away. A Pinto was a good car for what it was. The Colt and Arrow were the best of the lot. I worked on Vegas, my cousin had a good Pinto, my brother had a Colt, and my Dad had an Arrow. Never saw the point of a Monza. I guess that's why they come up with a Monza, like Datsun, they had to change their name to Nissan because their cars rusted so bad.

Funny part about that was the monza was actually offered with a V8. A 305 i think. There would be no reason to even cut the support out.
Yeah, I dunno, its stupid crap I saw when I went to auto tech school, another good one was when a guy asked to borrow my air chisel, then proceeded to poke holes in his otherwise good muffler. I walked over and asked why he was doing it, he said "I like the way it sounds, and its cheaper than buying a glasspack..." I think the car was a early 80's caprice with a 305.

“Yikes” at the complete lack of emotional control which you continue to demonstrate.

Like with most “Internet forum tough guys” you’re vastly overestimating your Internet Muscles. Nobody is impressed nor intimidated by what you sling while hiding behind your keyboard.

Seriously. Take it easy. Name calling says way more about you than whoever you’re trying to intimidate.

Dude...relax and see if you can have some fun. It's all fun. Your arrogance is stupid. I'd tell you to drop in to the N&P forum but if this **** bothers you, you'd melt away to nothing over there.

Ok, lets talk about the biggest POS Smallblock Chevy ever made, I say its the 307.....or the one where the intake valves are the same size as the exhaust valves

Too many to choose one. 265 with optional oil filter? 400 with steam holes for cooling between cylinders? soft cam lobes and lifters? timing chains that slip teeth at 70K, bending all the exhaust valves or all the intake valves or both? O-Ring valve seals? Valve springs that loose load after 20K? Starters that need shims for correct position to ring gear? Just off the top of my head...

I remember or have witnessed most of what you just mentioned...

I made a lot of money off Chevrolet. I have friends that run them, and when they ask, I tell them simply, that I used to rebuild them.

Yep, but summit racings got all the aftermarket fixes for the factory mistakes , just like all the aftermarket **** you can buy to "fix" a Holley carb.

I laugh and tell one of my friends "You just spent $10,000 to make a Chevy into a Mopar."

This is as good a time to say as any, and I said it first!
In order to minimize the suffering any have endured while owning a 340, they can call me and I will do my best to take it off their hands!
I guess I'm a masochist!

I believe Crown made those conversions as well. The transmissions were the weak part.

I turned the key on two 340 cars this afternoon ! They both started and ran pretty good.
Much better than fireworks, Donald Trump, Chevy, Ford, etc. LOL LOL LOL LOL

Ah yes, I did the same! I love the sound of that engine and exhaust bone stock original. Mine is down to the bone stock with 300 since total rebuild. It sort of like a 1973 900 Z-1 Kawasaki: subtle and quiet at an idle, but rev it up, and BYE BYE!

Actually That's how so many people fell in love with 340 cars. Those fresh new bone stock 340s. They ran like a SOB !

Oh my GAWD. Need a safe space? Suck it up, buttercup. It was all meant tongue in cheek, like a bunch of guys stand around shootin the breeze. We don't need to call the wambulance, do we? You need some maxi pads? Night out with the girls watchin Steel Magnolias?

See? It was meant pokin fun, just like my post. If you caint take stuff like that, time to find a new hobby. Maybe needlepoint or cross stitch. Or whine tasting.
are you harrassing me now? nice one.

Actually a G body Gm car frame fits very nicely, under a 65 up Corvair body...

And funny, obviously he was oblivious that Chevy put small blocks in millions of Monzas right from the factory. Radiator support and all.
Short water pump ,special pulley package, IIRC....Bolt in , and race.
