Using RTV on a gasket will cause it to squirm when tightened and possibly cause a leak. There are exceptions, of course, such as using RTV around water passages on gaskets. Other than that, I would steer clear of RTV on gaskets. Maybe use something like 3M Yellow weatherstrip to hold them in place, but that's it.
