The sockets are 1.25". The 1.24" bars are as large as you can go, unless you change out the anchors for C body anchors and have custom bars made. If I remember correctly that was done for some of the old NASCAR/circle track cars.
A 1.24" bar would have a wheel rate over 450 lb/in though. You'd need some really sticky tires to make that work.
