Hey guys -

Just thought I'd post up a start of a thread to document the work going into this thing. I wasn't really in the market for another car when I bought this but I didn't want to pass it up. The car had been sitting for the last 20 years under a barn/awning and in the last couple of years the plan the previous owner had was to put a rebuilt '71 block 340 into it. The guy came up tight on money for one reason or another and so I jumped on the deal to get the whole package. It's all original with 108k miles, with next to no serious rust to it. The worst of it is surprisingly from the guys dogs peeing on the side it could get to which completely destroyed two of the wheels and got the lower quarter. Otherwise there is just a bit of stuff above the drivers taillight and surface rust in some other places. Thankfully none of the trunk, floors, or underside are rusting through. It's got it's original 318 (which ran when it was parked) and original transmission, with an 8 3/4 rear end. So far I've got a 4 speed and all of the parts but the column, 73+ disc brakes, power disc MC/booster, a few gear chunks to swap to, and a set of e body rear drum brakes. I've already picked up some Dr. Diff axles, UCA bushings, upper ball joints, calipers, rotors, pads, inner and outer bearings, dust caps, wheel seals, brake hoses, fuel pump, plugs, and plug wires. There are still a few things I need to/want to get such as lower ball joints, tie rods, a prop valve, etc. I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but here are a handful of pictures for now.

Good luck, and good save! Keep the pics coming. Always great to see another one come back to life. I have an orange one just like it. The orig 318 was replaced with a 69yr 340 and a 4 speed.

Sweet, I'll have to check them out. Yea it's a bummer the grille is the standard one. It'd probably be way down the road before I get a sharktooth because of the money they go for. I feel like it'd be better spent in a bunch of other places first. haha

Good luck with that, way too much rust to ever touch it..

They do make an after market one but it's not cheap either.

Yea I've seen that one. Exactly why it would be far down the road.

Good save!!!! Are you a bodyman!?? If not you will be!!

I've done my share of work. I did a lot of the prep work on my Barracuda before painting it.

Nah, nothing some sanding wont knock down. The only major rust that needs actual repair are that quarter and above the taillight.

Wow-good find. I would keep that one all original. Pretty rare and a beautiful color combo

Key Chrysler was in Nashville Tennessee. Just down the road from me. I live in Murfreesboro Congrats on the find.:icon_fU::icon_fU:

Yea I'm going to for the most part. Basically not doing anything that can't be undone with a little work. I do love the color and factory graphics so I'll be sticking with those.

Congrats, That baby is going to need a lot of money and a lot of work.

Nothing I'm scared of, been down this road before with other vehicles.

Very cool! I had planned on looking into where that was. Thanks!
