After 4 years of secretly restoring my mother's car. I surprised her with it!

A wonderful testament to your love and caring for your family. Also a great example of how our hobby can be used to uplift others. Thx for sharing.

Sent chills down my spine. Absolutely amazing what u did. I did the same 2 my dad. The pic in my avatar is the car i surprised him with.(still a work in progress). This kind of thing speaks volumes about a person and how they were raised. U my fabo friend should hold ur head up high and be proud of who you are

This is just awesome! I'm very sorry for the loss of your Dad. He must have been a great man to have set the examples that you follow without even realizing you are doing it. Not sure if you want more modern seat belts for her car, but here's a link to a place that has nice belts at affordable prices.

The car (a 1964 Plymouth Valiant Convertible) purchased by my father in 1979, spent the majority of its life under a car cover in my parents garage. My father made plans throughout the years to restore the car but things always got in the way. With the loss of my father in 2010, I promised myself that I would eventually get this done.

Four years ago my uncles and I stole my mother's car from her garage. We placed a dummy car under the car cover. She was none the wiser. The past weekend I had the joy of throwing her a surprise party. I had relatives come in from out of town. It was epic. After the initial surprise I let mom settle in for a couple of hours and surprised her again with her car.

I am so happy this forum exists. The advice and parts made available to me from this community were invaluable.

I bet there was tears in her eyes under the sunglasses when she sat in the car.

wow, this just made my day to hear about such nice thing you did for your Mother. I am sure your Dad would be very proud of his Son for doing what he had planned for her. Where in Alabama are you? I am outside Tuscaloosa, Joe
