I am in need of a 1967 273 Commando Cylinder head. The machine shop that was supposed to be rebuilding my heads ground into the water jacket when they were putting hardened valve seats into one of the heads... They haven't ground other so I've only got one bad head and I need a replacement to finish the build. The casting number on the head is 2658920. The car has mechanical lifters and from what I have read (feel free to correct me) but I believe I need mechanical lifter heads.

its not special there everywhere just not the 64/65 with a different bolt and angle

Put 302 swirls on it. Better ports, hardened seats and about the same CC, maybe even smaller.

The only thing I'm worried about is if I can use a hydraulic lifter cylinder heads with the mechanical lifter set up on my 67. I have not found any information either way as to if this is possible or not. I have someone telling me that I have to use heads that have mechanical lifters.

You can use any LA heads, nothing about a head dictates whether or not you can or can’t use either type of lifter. You would need different pushrods as they are different for both applications.

It doesn't matter what type of lifters you run, the head is no different from hydraulic or solid lifters...

I do have a set of 920 heads...

About the only thing special about them is they are closed chambered.
I also have a set off a 67 318.
(Yes they put 318 LA's in 67 cars with these heads. A Belvedere in this case.)

I might be willing to part with them as a set, but be warned, shipping heads is expensive.
