Pulley Diameters

It funny all this is public knowledge and yet the aftermarket still makes junk pulleys in the wrong diameters. How many guys are fighting cooling issues right now because they don't run the pump at the correct speed?

Agree, they think everyone wants to slow things down for a miniscule bit of power !

340 with A/C Crank pulley: P/N 3671320 7 3/8"
WP pulley: P/N 3418227 5 5/8"
1.31 ratio for Max Cooling

Great info & thanks for posting!! I looked for part #s on the pulleys used, but couldn't find any #s.

My car is not far behind their MAX with a 1.26:1 ratio

As I mentioned/posted earlier, I think the aftermarket pulleys are primarily designed for optimum performance & not best cooling. The GO FAST guys could care less about driving for miles with their AC running :)

Supply & demand right??

Your post is very interesting , I've got some heat problem i n trafic too . With a moroso 5'' inch on the crank and a 6 7\8 on the WP I've got a ratio of ,727 not very good at idle . I've found a 7'' crank pully but it seem to be very difficult to found a 5 5\8 WP pulley , for the part no 3418227 it's 1 7\8 deep but my 6 7\8 WP pulley is 2 7\8 deep, does a WP pulley with a 2 7\8 deep in the 5 inch range exist ??

Hi @Yves

The WP pulley I used for my application is shown in Post #155 at 2 3/4" deep. Sometimes you have to improvise with washers or spacers to get the desired result for pulley alignment.

There are SO many combinations...that's why I called this a Rubik's Cube project  Lots of work to figure out...

I think you're on the right track with the larger crank pulley to overdrive your WP.

Last Tuesday I've found from a guy in my area the same pulley shown in your post #155 , to make it fit we think to shim it but in fact to make that pulley fit i will have to stretch it to 2 15\16 tall , the rubik cube don't work with this one . Today I will replace the 7'' crank pully with a 6 1\2 and a 61\2 on the WP It will be better than my first set up , 1:1 is better than ,727:1 I will try to find the tall 5 5\8'' pulley or something around for my water pump if not I will have one made next winter.

Update , it's much better with the 1:1 ratio . On the road cruising a 60 temperature straight at the thermostat raiting 180 . In a parking lot idling from 180 to 210 in 7 minutes a lot better than last week at a car show i saw 230 in maybe 3-4 minutes . Next think maybe I will upgrade is to put a fan shroud
