Does any body have some pics of where they mounted there Tachometer in there Duster. I have been looking at my car and I do not see a lot of options! my car has the shifter on column!

In the dash. I did a custom instrument cluster and Autometer electric gauges.

that's super nice! I might go that route some day when I have the extra cash! if I remember correctly, they were some where around $900.00 at Classic Ind.

I got mine from Fastlanewest but the plastic is really flimsy. I'm going to make my own out of a stock cluster. I'm going to cut out the back and glue in a new backing with custom holes for gauges. The Fastlanewest unit was $755 and it included the electric sending unit for the transmission speed sensor, oil sender and temp sender. I run a GM 200 4R and I finally got a speedo that works well.

do you have a better picture of how it is mounted to dash? did the fuel gauge come with that or did you just mount it there your self? I really do need a fuel gauge before I need a TAC! I like the TAC there but it looks like you had to cut the dash! I might be able to make a bracket that would work!

I will get you one, was there when I bought the car, dash isn't cut,

I don't have any pics of how they mount. The holes are in the cluster and the gauges slip through from the outside and use that C bar inside to hold them in place like any gauge. The hole is the size of the gauge body and the bezel keeps it from going through. This isn't really a Duster, it's a Dart Sport, but it's close enough. It's in the garage about twenty steps away if you want any clearer pics.

I did something similar to Fisher except left the front open, but bent down instead. I also formed mine tighter to the pad. The rear bend goes under the pad there and then I pull the bracket forward and push the front bend down around the pad and it stays there on it's own. I used a soft aluminum thin gauge but thick enough to drill and tap for the mounting screws. Probably equivalent to about 3/64
The whole thing is slightly oversize so that I can slide it over to the right out of my line of sight, cuz I almost never look at it, on the street. I just bought it for the built-in shift light and rev-limiter.
Oh wait, does it have a built-in rev-limiter? Not sure, maybe it's set to 7400. It's just there in case I miss a shift..... which hasn't happened since 2004, when I pulled the V-gate out. You need a V-gate?
And I never look at the light either on the street. You need a tach?
I push the tach over to the passenger side, and say "here watch this for me, yell when it hits 6200". Then I dump the clutch, wind her up and hit 7000 about instantly, and just keep it there for between 5 and 6 seconds to about 66mph; then into direct it goes. What a hoot!

It's a 2 piece bracket that hooks around the back of the dash pad. I used all short cap screws and had to tap all the threads .

I am thinking about Nut Zert's for bracket and mounting TAC or welding or gluing a solid 3/16" or 1/4" piece aluminum to backside of bracket and tap thru that.

Oh no don't do that, that piece will scar the dashpad.
You could tack-weld it on top and grind the underside smooth tho. Just make sure the two pieces are welded tight cuz the tach will bounce around pretty good., eventually breaking inadequate weldment.

you might be right. I could put it on top, but I will still put some foam padding between bracket and Dash Pad! for support and protection!
