Anybody know if the 68-70 B body rear will fit a 67-69 Cuda with only changing the spring perches? Or will I need to narrow it too? What backspacing will the rims need to be? Thanks!

Plenty of people do it, less bucks than finding an a-body 8 3/4. Perches go in 1/2" each side. Wheel back spacing may have to change. Make the swap but take numbers of original rear distance from fender and compare to new space and change rims accordingly. You may get lucky and you're present tire wheel combo may still work. Good luck.

I just checked Doctor Diff for you under his axles section. He has the stock A body differentials listed as 52 5/8" from outside housing end to outside housing end. 68-70 B Body is listed as 54 15/16" from housing end to housing end. Please double check my math, but that is a 2 5/16" difference in width. Likely would have to adjust your backspacing by about an inch on each side. That is assuming the axles hang out the same amount on both differentials.

I was told by them that just switching to big bolt pattern in my Barracuda will cause the axles to stick out an extra 3/4", and that I would have to account for that in my wheel backspacing. I just don't know if that is additive to what I said above or not.

Thanks Roy. I know people been doin the swap on dusters, but they got a bigger quarter panel and fender. I like the dana60. Butlimited gears. I have one. I like the 8.75 for the gear availability.

Cuda620,
Maybe I mis understood. I was under the impression you were looking to go from a 7 1/4 to an 8 3/4 and had a b body rear handy. If you have an 8 3/4 and are looking to go up to the 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern just do the axle swap. I just did mine with Dr. Diff axles. But you must use the brake backing plates from a big bolt pattern 8 3/4. I used ones from an E body rear and now have 11 x 2.5" brakes up from 10". I run stock Mopar steel rims with E 60 14" and had no interference issues at all. Thats on my early A 64 Valiant.

Yes goin from 7.25 to 8.75 if I can find one reasonable. I now have a truck dana60 with the narrow axle tubes to narrow if I don’t find one. Mosier is 30 minutes from me. I’ve used em before. Thanks
