Looking for a good set of original A body brake backing plates for an 8.75 axle. 10 inch by 1.75 brakes. I just purchased a car and someone robbed one of the backing plates.

They are not A body specific or 8 3/4" specific, so you can expand your search parameters some. ;-)

Uh, actually the SBP ones that he's looking for are A-body specific, nothing else had the 5x4" pattern and the SBP axles have a different flange offset. No mixing and matching SBP and BBP backing plates.

And I believe they are also 8 3/4 specific, I don't think the SBP 7.25" backing plates interchange. I may be wrong about that one though, that's just what I've heard.

I wondered if some of the b body 8.75 rear ends came with the 10 by 1.75 brakes. I just figured that someone who did large bolt pattern conversion with the 11 inch brakes might have them laying in their parts pile.

Yup.
7.25 and 8.75 10x1.75 drums were the same...thru 72 anyways. Backing plates were not.
73 up I've had small bolt pattern 7.25's with the 1.75" bell drums that would swap to the A body 8.75.

Nope. A-body's were the only body style that got the 10x1.75" small bolt pattern rear brakes. All of the B-body's would be the 5x4.5" BBP, and none of the BBP brakes can be used on a small bolt pattern axle. People may have the SBP stuff laying around from a BBP swap, but it would only be from swapping an A-body.

The SBP stuff is out there, I sold a set of 10x1.75" backing plates not all that long ago.
