Carter Racing Mechanical Fuel Pump

That’s a hell of a pump.
The interference with the water pump lower hose inlet is fixed by a slight cut and weld (tig) to curve the inlet. This is a common and long standing practice.

So the aftermarket still isnt supplying the early style alum waterpump ??
I've seen pictures of an early style done in aluminum - so a long time ago someone made a run of them.
It would be great if someone did. For AMC's 360, even the parts store replacements are made in aluminum (although quality is only soso), And I've seen at least two different castings. Whatever it takes to make it worthwhile to make SB Mopar early pumps in an aluminum casting, my guess is it may not be about volume of sales but willingness to front the capital expenses.

How much motor do you have? How hard do you launch? Many a 413/440 survive with the stock pump and an upgrade of a bigger fuel line past the pump. The more psi the more power the motor needs to work that pump.

While true, the amount of power is laughable.

340
Tunnel ram - 2x4 set up
Jerico 4 speed .

In my 318 Stocker it took 8 HP to drive the mechanical. In lower class racing 8 HP is a lot. That added to all the other power eaaaters, 320 HP from a stock, less the cam, 318.
