I have a 71 Demon I have the original fender tag and Build sheet
September of 70 build
Couple of question I have

1.Code 5X8 Upper door color (Charcoal)- So should my inside door and sail panels are painted Charcoal?

2.Code J54 Sports Hood - Whats This? (I do have the Hood pin option also J45)

3. Code J81 rear spoiler wing type - I think it should be a Gull wing but want to make sure. I will be wanting to buy one also. So it you have one let me know.
Thanks for any help

The charcoal upper door color and sail panels would be the same as the 5X8 on V24 Duster cars. So they would be the "low gloss" black color. The J54 code is for the "sport hood" which I am not sure but believe that is the black painted inserts with the dual hood scoops. The J81 wing for 1971 was the gull style. There were exceptions as some of the earliest cars seemed to have received the go wing (Mustang) style wing.

The hood will have the black out on it that would make the scoops black. How about the scoops bezel black or chrome?
Blacked out hood stripes and white side stripes, never see one. very cool.

Can't wait to finish my Barracuda, this is going to be a fun car to do.

Calling @Alaskan_TA

The ‘71 color and trim book says the white stripes were available, and the dealership data book says J54 hoods on Demon 340’s got the black stripes. So by that info it would have had a hood blackout and white side stripes. But there was tons of random stuff that wasn’t actually done, so?

The dealership data book and color and trim books are on The 1970 Hamtramck Registry Library Page (1970 - 1974)

Those are the side and tail stripe colors. Hoods got black.

All 71 demon 340's with sport hood option came with duel scoops painted black, black hood paint, and black bezels NO chrome bezels in 71! No body colored scoops, Only deviation is some hoods got the thin border around the black out and some did not. Also No 340 emblems on scoop, No script dodge emblem on the center of hood only driver side dodge block letter and the holes in the hood are actually 4.190 to 4.200 or at least 4 3/16" to about 4 13/64" .

The 5x8 is basicly the same as the hood paint a low sheen black that has a very very slight texture. SEM 39144 trim black is very close
