shots from the garage...

and it’s August... after spending last weekend under the car we did make some small progress. First of all, I live in the desert. Getting under or even around the car this time of year sucks!!! Got my shocks back from Afco and the new chrome springs. Guess if I can’t go rounds I’ll look pretty. Got the nice shiny ladder bars, freshly painted rear housing and rebuilt shocks already to go and somewhere in the shuffle I misplaced the top shims for the shock mounts. Put the new harbor freight band saw to use and made some new ones. Handy tool for sure! Got the axles and brakes all assembled and another amazing discovery. The rear axle vent was plugged solid! We’ve had some rear gear oil seepage over the years so maybe this has something to do with it.

The transmission has been in for a couple weeks and I went to put the converter bolts in and discovered I only had .040 pull forward... and once again the past comes I’m to haunt me. Quick phone call to my dad brings up the memory that we used to run a spacer with this converter. No local metal shops to get anything this size... luckily a fellow racer came to my aid and shipped me a .090 spacer he used to have to run. Go to install the mini starter...and...it...won’t...fit! That day we learned another Mopar deal... R3/904 may require clearancing. Get out the die grinder! At this point I think I should have left well enough alone!
