OK, an update.
I don't like drop tops much either but this was going to be an investment car.
The guy was asking $4,500 for the car before we went and looked at it, but this is how it actually was when we got there.
I had no intention of paying 4,500 but in the condition of the above pics maybe 3k (maybe)
I was fairly pissed and so was the Wife when we saw the pics above and got there to see this.
We wanted the original patina.
He said he took it apart to get it painted, but "The engine and trans both work fine"
I told him now that he pulled it all out of the car, from my standpoint as the possible buyer all he had was a core motor and a core trans laying on the floor of his shop.
The thing was full of dirt and leaves to the point you couldn't even tell what color the interior was.
He ended up saying he would take 3,500 for it as is, but I told him I wasn't paying the upper end of the scale for something that would take hours to verify that even all the parts were there, let alone now having no indication of engine or trans condition.
Very disappointing.
