GEARS

Hey everyone .

I got my hand on a 1969 Swinger 340 4-speed and currently getting her back into shape. I have 3:23 gears in the 8 3/4 . I have heard that I would be happier with the performance with a gear change. Some guys told me 3:73 would be the perfect choice.
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated

Also looking for an original 340 4 speed shifter handle if there's one out here

Thanks and have a great day !

3.73's were my choice, but with a Passon 5 speed. Once you start going lower, you probably will need to address traction issues to really take advantage of the harder launches out of 1st.

Around town and on short freeway cruises they are nice, but any freeway travel time longer than 45 minutes or an hour gets to be too much.

3.55 with a sure grip would be a nice upgrade. Keep the tapered bearings and adjuster though. All my green strip bearings are noisier than stock.
