Crankshaft question

Well, I was speaking with the seller about engines. I am not much on the knowledge end of those! We were discussing builds that involved doing things the old way vs stroker kits. He told me about the version that involved either a 383 or 400 block with cutting the throws down to match a chevy rod, 6 1/2" I think, and then using a 427 or 454 piston. He was saying that the rod length was a perfect fit for this. That is what I'm going to research. He said you basically cut the mains and the throws 100 and it works nicely. He also was describing a crank that didn't require a bunch of work to spin in these blocks. But this one is larger than the stock 383 I have so I will likely have to do some trimming.

The reason I would consider doing this is I already have everything, except rods and pistons either way.
