Anyone Running This Front Disc Brake Kit ? CPP

-
So...has anyone actually used this kit or does everyone just like to complain about it ? Seems like the going price on used up OEM junk is typically $400...the CPP kit seems like a decent deal. No changing bushings, no rusty parts, no stripped out UCAs and everything is included. Somebody must have this setup on their car.

I'm not doing any road racing or drag racing with the car. It's just a street bomber and I'd be surprised if I will put 25K on it before I'm dead.

I don't like the no returns part on there website. If they don't seem to backup there stuff. They are just a reseller. I'd go elsewhere. Call Doctor Diff instead.

I've been looking myself. Originally, you could get a factory Kelsey Hayes disk brake setup for a 64-66 Valiant/Barracuda. Those cars had 14" wheels while maintaining the 4" bolt circle. The rims are hard to find, but they are out there. You must go to 14" wheels to clear the calipers ( to the best of my limited knowledge). That matters to me as I don't want to change the rear axles, for the sake of a common spare tire. I believe that the setup you've found has a 4-1/2" bolt pattern. I've found the 14" wheels, but can't seem to find the K&H brake setup that's complete enough/ good enough/ or priced reasonable enough.

The search goes on. Keep in touch and if you make that ebay purchase, please let me know your evaluation.

I plan on using 15" wheels so that doesn't matter to me. The goal is front disc brakes and 5x4 1/2" bolt pattern.

Call Doctor Diff instead.

A similar Dr Diff kit is $715 (s&h included) and uses a upper ball joint spacer. Not a fan of using spacers/adaptors on wheels or suspension parts...and I would still have used upper ball joints and UCA bushings.

$715 damn for basically FACTORY replacement parts..no way!!

In that kit are the Upper control arms factory or repro. I’ve read of people having lots of issues with the repro control arms.

Well, I ordered that kit on eBay. I'll let you guys know how it is when I get it and give it a review.

I believe it's the same kit Roadkill put on the Crop Duster.

I did the Ram man kit, love the instal and parts are everywhere for these 73 to 76 disc brakes, Very happy

Cpp is a good company. Their shop is near my house. I’m currently running their calipers on my 69 dart. No complaints

Looks like a good price for a 1973+ setup, especially since it includes upper control arms, bushings, and ball joints. Particularly good if you need new bushings and your factory UCA's are rusty (common). If you change the rear end (to get BBP), some people use a Ford Explorer 8.8, which gives disk brakes, but you must cut one arm of the housing shorter and get a 2nd short axle to match. Your 1965 is narrower, so later BBP rears won't fit unless you get rear wheels w/ a different back-spacing, plus Mopar rears are getting rare, especially the desired 8.75" ones for A-bodies.

How did it go? I'm considering this kit for my 74 dart.

Well, I ordered it on August 10th and still don't have the kit...they told me calipers were on back order. My order was finally shipped on August 31st, so I should see it this week.

I got one box (of 3) this morning ! Wasn't expecting it to be pre-assembled & bearings greased too. Looks good so far.

Got the other 2 boxes today. Finally have the whole kit and everything looks decent. Decided to jump right in.

I did get the passenger side installed tonight. The worst part of the whole thing was getting the eccentric/cam bolts out of the old UCAs...pain in the ***.

Everything from the kit went together well, but there were a few minor issues.

#1 - No instruction sheet. Not a huge deal as I had converted a few B-Bodies back in the day using OEM '73-up A-Body parts.

#2 - I had to open up one of the holes in the dust shield with a die grinder so the LBJ bolt head would sit flat against the spindle. Also, because of the lack of instructions, I had to change the bolts for the spindle to LBJ around so that the nut was on the backside (LBJ side) or the bolt interferes with the rotor.

Other than those minor things, I'd say it's good.
