Would you trust a rubber expansion plug for a temporary fix, for maybe 6 months? My Ramcharger has a freeze plug leaking and I'm not completely sure I can hammer a new plug into it W/O pulling the motor.

If i can't get a steel plug in, i was going to use the rubber plug until I can get the motor changed this winter.

yes they actually work well i had several in my old plow truck I had it 15 years probably still in it

Fine for short term, but look into a brass set vs. steel when the time comes to fix them right.

If you buy the freeze plug driver set with pivoting head set up. Like snap on mac sell you can get into so crazy spots with them. Im sure there some china versions now.

I already have a steel set of plugs and will try driving one in instead of the rubber plug. It's going to be a doozie to get to. Just weighing my options.
Thanks, Paul

I will never ever use one again after I had one pop out on the highway while driving my 73 Charger (318) ....... Heard a "ka-thump".looked in the rear view mirror to see an object meerily rolling the median and at the same time smelled coolant....... It's amazing how fast it heated up without coolant !

You shoulda had an old 383 or 413; lol, I have seen those in demo-derbys drop their coolant right after the starting gun and survive quite a long time, even seeing one claim the last-car-moving prize. True story but yes I'm kidding.

They work well enough but try to find one made in somewhere besides China.
They're really no different than block heaters, which are usually left in place forever.

did you tighten it? Those things look like squashed moon-pies when they are torqued down. How did it come out?

Yup. Wouldn't sweat it for the short term. I would endorse it all day long.

I put one in at the zone parking lot in a Pontiac 400, easy peazzy, and drove that Grand Priz 450 miles to give it to my mom, we never had a problem for 3 years, sold.
