68 Valiant Hellcat Swap

Great idea and great execution! I wasn't keen on just a big rectangular recess there, but this is going to look really good once body worked and painted. Lookin' good!

Are you planning on running the factory ac and power steering? From the research I’ve done the factory k frame engine mounting positions will not work for this

No need to cut your fire wall

Figured I haven't posted the build in a while, it's been a busy few months at work. Anyways here's what has been done since the last time.
Ran the PCM wires into the car, I want to run the computer and components under the dash
IMG_1528.jpg
Here's how much clearance I now have behind the blower.

IMG_1531.jpg
Running a bulkhead connector for the heater box hoses.
IMG_1536.jpg
IMG_1558.jpg
Built a mount for the PCM and power distribution center
IMG_1557.jpg
I had to notch the Neon wiper motor in order to accept the Valiant wiper arms
IMG_1599.jpg

Made custom mount to have the neon wiper motor inside the car.

PDC and PCM Mounted
IMG_1625.jpg
Using a Vintage air 10x10 heater box
IMG_1626.jpg

Running the headlight harness, electric fan wires and supercharger water pump wires under the wheel well.
IMG_1628.jpg
Mounted the gas pedal
IMG_1627.jpg

Everything just fits under the dash
IMG_1624.jpg
In order to mount the alternator I had to grind down the two bottom bolts otherwise they hit the frame rail during installation.
IMG_1743.jpg

Made a custom bracket so the supercharger coolant pump could be mounted where the AC compressor used to go.
IMG_2083.jpg
Supercharger coolant lines ran along the bottom of the rad support.
IMG_2082.jpg

Made a hole in the rad support to run the intercooler hose.
IMG_2088.jpg

Intercooler is mounted on the outside of the radiator support. I had to cut the vertical support for it to fit and I will be making a new bottom for it.
IMG_2089.jpg

What are you using for a fuse block? And how are you blending the wiring for the lights?

Running -8AN Supply and Return Lines from my Tanks INC EFI tank. I am utilizing their "Hellcat Fuel Pump". Good for up to 900+ HP and EFI compatible. This really was a drop in system.
IMG_2097.jpg
I will eventually secure the lines to the frame rail, this is just for mock-up.
IMG_2098.jpg
IMG_2099.jpg
IMG_2100.jpg
IMG_2101.jpg

Cut the side of the apron to fit the auxiliary radiator and clean up where the battery tray used to mount.
IMG_2085.jpg

Oil Cooler is mounted under the right side wheel well using an oem challenger oil cooler mount.
IMG_2117.jpg

Aux radiator is mounted under the left side wheel well. I used a combination of another challenger oil cooler bracket and bolted a modified challenger aux radiator bracket to it.
IMG_2119.jpg
Still have to finish welding and metal finishing but here's an idea of what the apron will look like.
IMG_2121.jpg
Remote oil filter will be mounted next to the radiator on the rad support.
IMG_2123.jpg

You're going to black out behind the grille, right?

Honestly, on a car that tits, paint the core support red.

Took some photos tonight of what I have so far. Need to mount the fuel pressure regulator and run some oil lines and this thing can be taken apart to be body worked and painted.
IMG_2125.jpg
Used a BeCool Radiator setup. Made my own custom bracket since I wasn't a fan of the ones provided.
IMG_2127.jpg
IMG_2128.jpg

Supercharger coolant tank and lines are all mounted.
IMG_2129.jpg
Mounted the Intercooler lower in order to keep the original latch system in tact.
IMG_2132.jpg
Coming up with some hood ideas, ultimately will probably make a hood scoop.

Using the factory Valiant fuse box. The headlight harness will just need to be extended since I ran it under the wheel well.

I'm painting the core support white like it was. It's just preference but I prefer everything white behind the grill especially with the aluminum intercooler.

Just saw this post lol. I'm not running AC but I am running the factory Hellcat power steering pump. I have heard of pressure issues on some of the gen 3 hemi swaps, but I will see what happens when I get to that point.

Onto the fab work;
Utilizing the T56 kit from @Tjfly4pay made the job that much easier when fitting this monster transmission in an A-body.
View attachment 1715180995 On the drivers side, the original transmission crossmember placed the transmission to high which created a weird angle for the 6 speed. To correct this I cut the bottom out and lowered the cross brace a quarter of an inch.
View attachment 1715180997 View attachment 1715181000 View attachment 1715181001 View attachment 1715181002Using 18 gauge steel I made a two piece tunnel to fit over the massive hole in the floor.
View attachment 1715181003 View attachment 1715181004I had to add a floor extension to the drivers side floor pan where the old 4 speed tunnel was.
View attachment 1715181005 View attachment 1715181006With the running gear still in place I tack welded the tunnel in place, to be full welded once everything is removed.

I ran into same issue stuffing 6.1 in 72 Demon! Pick up tube I used was for 2010 as per my donor SRT. Turned out my block was a pre 09! What did you torque the cap bolts to when swapping the extended bolt to support the pick up tube?

Nice car! I'd have to double check with my notes at the shop I remember it being around 120 ft/lbs in the end. Since it was a TTY bolt it was an initial torque + a rotation of a certain amount of degrees.
