ok I know many of you are using LED bulbs in the tail light ...

1. does it blink like a old bulb ( staying lit as well as blinking )
2. Red or white LED bulb
3. what style LED bulb looks more like an old bulb ( no hot spot )
4.will i have to change the flasher if im only doing the back lights ?
70 Dart here ...

Thanks All

400 for rear LED lights is ridiculous.
Some LEDS resistors, some soldering and you can mod your existing ones.
The background around the LED's is reflective, so they get pretty bright just from headlights hitting them.
These literally cost me about 10 bucks each and that included the smoke lexan.

Who sells $400 dollar LED lights?

Whoops, 198 a (kit):D
Ok then, 200 dollar tail lights.

This is how mine light for tail lights, (M for Mopar) then they all come on with brake lights.
They are way brighter, I just spot painted them for the pic.

TrailBeast NICE!!! DIY Led light ...

LED's are cheap as hell, and I did my backup lights to match, but with daylight LED's and frosted lexan.

Here's the tails actually lit, and then the backups installed.

OH, and I would highly recommend an electronic flasher even for incandescent lights, because the electronic flasher does not rely on amp loads to flash so they flash at a consistent rate even at idle where most slow down due to less available power at idle. (especially with your brake lights also on)
Just like wipers, headlights and heater blower motors do at a stop sign idle.
Once your headlights are on relays and the rest are LED these things don't slow down any longer at idle because there is more available power because LED's use a lot less of it, and your headlights are not using the entire electrical system in the cabin for their power supply.
After the headlight relay kit (from our member @crackedback) the headlights get their supply virtually directly off the battery.

I bought some $20 LED bulbs off Amazon and a $12 LED flasher (get one with a separate ground). The brake lights are brighter and immediate, turn signals work great.

I did the same on my 66 B-Cuda. Red led 1157 tails/stop, 1156 tails, white backup 1156 (i think). All internal bulbs are led. My dash bulbs are led, but I have to pull it again to redo the polarity on some. My flasher is an electonic flasher.
Just the front parking/turn sigs are not led yet. I am going to have to solder in some resisters for them. At present if I install led's in front, they hyper flash, but only on the front. Still looking for a license plate bulb.
Got the led's on ebay, and amazon.

if you use the right relay //you don't need resistors//

do your dash lights dim ??? // most leds have min/max voltage//what bulbs did you use ??

I cut the lenses off of a pair of truck/trailer lights and trimmed the rest to fit inside my existing tail light housings. Electronic flasher from Hotronics.

Bought mine from amozon. Red led bulb, super bright! O'Reilly has a three pronged flasher unit on the shelf. Flasher has the wiring diagram on the body. Just make a ground pigtail.

Wanted to share this as well going along with the topic/posts here... I had 1157 with my 1971 Dodge Demon and they are fine when not in direct sunlight. However due to not being bright enough in direct sunlight I tried a pair of 3496. Only very slightly brighter in direct sunlight. I had tried a pair of LED 1157 before but were not bright enough. Could have been due to the brand/type. I was close to doing the full LED conversion from...

DIGI-TAILS | Digital LED Tail Lights

But figured let me try a set of regular bulbs one last time. In my searching I came across Mustang/Cougar guys using "plasma LEDs" from West Coast Classic Cougar...

Plasma LED Light Bulbs

They are 1157 "Plasma" LED's and they are little brighter than 3496. Gonna see tomorrow how they do in direct sunlight. If they are not bright enough then full LED tails would be next for sure.

Hard to tell via the pics but this first one is the 1157 left and 3496 right.
