The 1947 Dodge Build

My 47 needs to have a tilt steering wheel just because! So I will use what I have on hand - an 80 J Body tilt wheel with column shift. I found on eBay a slick little adapter to mate a 79 through early 80’s Chrysler tilt wheel column to a 5 Bolt Grant or 6 Bolt other manufacture steering wheel.

The horn button wire is routed from the spring-loaded clip on the turn signal through the adapter just like as was done on the original, ugly OEM steering wheel. I finally decided on the Grant 1139 model which is a 5 Bolt Wheel. Just out of curiosity I looked through the Grant adapters and couldn’t find anything for a Chrysler tilt wheel column - it’s no problem for a GM product of course! My wife even said it looks pretty nice with the built in rim cover - it’s a hand stitched leather cover. And it fits my adapter perfectly.
