New Member Introduction - 1971 GSS Demon

Thanks Guys!

This recollection is the best Dad has come up with so far:

Dad traded his Tunnel Rammed 383/4spd 68 Roadrunner in on the Demon in 71 driving it from Park Falls, WI to Chicago @ 6.5mpg. In December 72 Dad was worried it wouldn't start to take Mom to the hospital to deliver my older brother but it did and they made it. It was used as a street car until early 74 when they bought their first house (mom and dad). Sometime there after, Dad pulled the 6 pack off in favor of a tunnel ram and dual 660's that had been sitting on top of the living room TV all winter and a bigger cam. There is no recollection as to what happened to the 6 pack after that. About this same time a Cheetah manual valve body was installed, the 3.91's were replaced with 4.56's, and inner fenders were cut out for fenderwell headers. In 75 while racing at Amber Green Dragway in Eau Claire, WI, the 340 let loose. Crank, rods, pistons, etc all broken. I have the best bent pushrod still and my uncle has the least broken piston in a box somewhere. Dad thought while running at 1/8th mile tacks, shifting at 7800 was the right thing to do!!?? The heads and tunnel ram were sold to an uncle's friend in Manitowoc, WI. In 76 just after I was born, Dad installed a big cammed 440 Interceptor and went racing again for a couple more years. He believes the best ETs were in the low 12's (the car needed a much looser converter). In 78 the car was parked and only used a couple times. My younger bother came in 80 and Dad and Mom split in 82 which is when it was sold. Through the guy i bought the car from, I have been able to talk to the guy who supposedly has the original block from the car. I am currently working on getting my hands on it. We will see if that actually happens. He is firm on not selling it. Car guy to car guy it is the right thing to do though, we all know that! I do have all the complete paperwork from Mr Norms for the car now too!
