AMD versus Goodmark quarter panel skins.

-
I missed this until now. But, I just ordered a set of Duster quarters. Cheap shipping is an understatement.....$12 each! And I too have measured steel thickness. My conclusion, AMD is thicker than OEM and therefore heavier. I don't need thicker, as long as it is as thick, which Goodmark is. Plus, most people shave weight on a car not add it!

Getallparts.com to the rescue i presume ?

Not for quarter panels I bet. I'm sure that they add that to the price that you're paying when your getting em shipped " for free "
Yep for quarters. 219.37 after sales tax. Free shipping. DHL freight delivered. Had it about 10 days later.

My 69 cuda ones were $312 a pair shipped with sales tax. Thats $156 each out the door with tax and shipping costs. My 67 cuda ones were a little cheaper at $311 shipped a few years prior because i had a battery tray ordered with them. Getallparts.com still the cheapest even with shipping cost.

nice!! didn't know about them until this thread.

sadly they don't have anything for my 64 polara.

I have installed both AMD and Goodmark Dart quarter skins.
There is no comparison. The AMD panels are heavy, and fit well. One inch too short? I used them with no issues other than a little hammer and dolly work at the rear quarter extension to get it fitting really nice.
The Goodmark are flimsy, have huge flanges to trim off, and don't have the dogleg where they meet the rocker.
I still have a pair of Goodmark skins here as well as AMD to compare to.

Pictures speak for themselves...you can clearly see it being too short and my Goodmark does have the above mentioned Dogleg.

AMD are thicker than OEM. If that's what you want. Good mark are the same as OEM. Fitting is required on all panels. I like the price difference. If I was paying somebody else to work on my stuff it may be different. But I'm not!

Maybe Goodmark has produced new versions since I bought them. They don't even list Dart panels on their website. Every Goodmark quarter skin I have used for A, B or E bodies has been flimsy, definitely not even close to original thickness metal, huge flanges, no dogleg, soft bends and oversized dimensions.
And I have 3 in my possession at this moment. I would use them as patch panels only.

My new Duster quarter skins do not have the dogleg as mentioned by FM3. And yes, there is plenty of extra material to trim! However, the wheel well fit is exact. I'm happy with that. The material at the door edge is correct depth as well. I will be using the driver side full length up to the middle line and cutting the pass side into two lower patches. My one panel cost less than one AMD patch front or rear of the wheel house. It will provide two patches, so it was a pretty good deal to me.

I'm curious if the original poster bought the Goodmark quarter skin right from Goodmark? Was it labeled as Goodmark or was it bought from a vendor who said it was Goodmark?
I have never seen a Goodmark quarter skin with the dogleg. Ever.
And I installed dozens of them before AMD even existed.
The AMD panels are so much heavier and stronger than the Goodmark. No comparison

Staff member contributing to a huge hijack. Hijacks don't bother me when constructive info is being shared. Just had to bust some balls:poke:.
ANYWAY, the tariff is just raw material. It aint like the US is going into competition with Taiwan to produce aftermarket parts. I don't see a problem.
Hell, I mark my stuff up percentage wise. The higher the price the more I make.

I looked up this 1972 Goodmark panel. It is a skin. The pic is not that good but it appears to have a leg.
