James's 1970 Dodge Dart build.

Nice work James, that looks clean. Out of curiosity, what length steering column did you end up going with? I can't remember if I asked this or you said it already.

Small update. I'm waiting on some parts so I'm just scraping undercoating, wire wheel, etc. Messy job. I'm just gonna use eastwood extreme chassis black out of the rattle can for now. Later I'll do a blast job and use epoxy/primer. :)

I also mocked up some fuel lines. 1/2" Aluminum feed and return. I dunno if I like it. we'll see how it works out. that'll be all the hard line. I'll use unions and go Earls PTFE nylon flex for both ends.

Do you know what length steering column you went with?

Sorry about that, I missed your earlier comment. I don't know off the top of my head, And I don't remember the part number, but I will measure it for you and report back. One thing I will say is, I wish I woulda stayed with the factory column, and lower column/firewall mount. It just would make things a whole lot easier in mounting the darn thing. I think now flaming river makes a column that uses the factory under dash mounting points. I think they weld on a metal bracket for that now.

I did some painting, all spray bomb for now. whatever, tryin to make some progress.. this car has sat too long. I'll finish the other rear half of the car in a couple days. just gotta touch it up with the sander and wipe it down with wax & grease remover.

That is looking AWESOME!!! Nice job
Thanks buddy.

I got the underside done. No more undercoating. I decided to remake my brake line again. I didn't want to go through the unused torsion bar hole so I put a through the frame brake line fitting. I might do that with the fuel lines too. The 1/2" through frame fittings are rather big and space is limited.

I also sent in my QuickTime Bellhousing for an adjustment window/ inspection hole, I will be using one of those Soft Lok adjustable clutches and a window is a must.

Got most of the fuel lines done. I'll work on the fuel cell lines in the trunk, and finish from where I left off under the car to go into the engine compartment.

Wow!! Those fuel lines look great! Good inspiration for when I redo the fuel lines in my car! And those “through frame” and bulkhead fittings are pretty cool!

Btw, the fuel lines didn’t aggravate you by any chance, did they?

LOL. Thanks!

Yea man, I was having a hellova time bending and shaping those lines, it was quite the pain in the neck. I was aggravated for sure. There are little notes like that all over the car. LOL

AMD Stuff is great but you most definitely have an NOS part from that 70's repair. The AMD quarters are obviously not as thick and they also do not have the same sharp bends and body lines as factory. More massaging may be needed for door gaps, body lines, etc.

Just a small update, nothing crazy...we were working on the driver side quarter panel and stripping the old paint, and noticed it was re-skinned long ago probably in the 70's. They did a "decent" job for the time. SO, we got it down to where we could see what was goin on with it...

So, I bought a full OE stye quarter panel from Auto Metal Direct. It's a real nice piece. We should have it installed soon. I currently don't have pictures of the new quarter, but I will soon.

This was a bench seat car, but i'm putting in bucket seats. so we welded in bucket seat reinforcement plates, just like the factory did.

I am also installing the lower radiator support and inner fender braces that FABO member "badart" makes.

I had John bend these up for me to clear the 17x8 inch wheels, and will be installed something like this:

That is all for now...more to come later...

Nice job on the underside and the installation of the lines. I noticed the notes on the fuel line and busted up laughing out loud. I can relate! L8r!

Wow, those lines look amazing! Would you mind telling me where you got the hold downs for the fuel lines and your bulk head connectors? I am getting ready to do the same thing on my Duster, and I was wanting to find hold downs like that, and bulk head connectors that would be long enough to go through the frame like yours.

Thank you. I got the hold downs through summit racing. They also make them for most sizes (3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, & 3/4)

double line clamp, 1/2" line:

Helix Line Clamps HEXLC2500

single line clamp, 1/2" line:

Helix Line Clamps HEXLC3500

I got the 1/2" through-frame fuel fitting from AMP Cherry Performance. They are Stainless steel. Be advised, you need to call them on the phone, and have them machine/ back cut the nut to .200" , -two hundred thousandths- in order to give us more threads because our frame is thicker than average.

Thank you very much! Also, that is what I could not figure out about the pass though fittings. The one I could find, all looked to small to go through the frame. Again, thank you and you do great work.

some more stuff done. ran the fuels to the engine bay. figuring out my wiring , gotta cut & crimp the plug wires.
