JD I've had these plans in my head for over 10 years. My brother brought home a brand new 70 Swinger 340 and I HAD to have one!
I always listen to those voices.

Can anyone refer me to a GM power steering pump that fits and works well in our "swap conversions" here? I'm headed to the junkyards tomorow (after a Dr. appointment) and searching out a drive by wire gas pedal, couple of more plugs, some way to power up this thing and possibly a dummy A/C compressor.

I have a drive by wire pedal assy I will not be using. If you strike ouot at the j/y let me know, I'll make you a good deal on it.

I'm using an LS1 (2000-2001) power steering pump with a GM Montana van pulley. I got a bracket from Reilly Motorsports. I' have pictures on my build thread.

Well, well... I plugged in the wiring harness last night, turned on the ignition, shot a little ether into the intake and rolled her over. She fire it! Time to build a fuel tank and run some lines. I assume we're all still running the Corvette fuel pressure regulator/filter?
Tetanus just became a fun project again!!!

No A/C compressor required. Shorter belt and eliminate it.

I hit this with (rattle can) primer and I can't even find it anymore!
I like the recessed sheetmetal flip filler cap on top of the fender, however you may want to concider welding in a drain tube nipple at the lowest point on that recessed area and run a rubber drain tube alongside the filler tube and have it exit at the rubber gasket in the trunk floor, to dump the water under the car.

MoparMat - I had that gas cap figgered out from the beginning :) My dear (patient) wife is a high school physics teacher. She immediately questioned my sanity over the flip cap! I had plans all along to completely seal it to the top of the fender surface with seal sealer. My biggest "out" in the cap idea is that Tetanus ain't gana be a rainy day driver anyway but sooner or later, I know it's gana happen.

My biggest problem so far is this damn DBW gas pedal!!! Blake's DIYHEMI.com (I believe he is "Yellowfin"?) is a leader in the swap game and either I'm stoopid (that's probably a good bet) or I can't locate in his schematics the 6th wire location to my harness :-( I still have to butterfly movement and no injector circuit functioning...

G50, hows the build? I’m here in Central TX starting my Hemi swap. Looks like I will have many of the same challenges as you did....

Man! I'm fired up!!! I've been working through Blake with DIYHEMI and I'm sitting on the edge of firing this monster up. I've go her painted (still gotta fix the clear coat), stainless headers around all steering components clears well, PS return line gets finalized tonight. EVERYTHING clears under the hood. I'm hoping to fire this dog up, tomorrow!!!
How far along are you on yours?

Well.... my engine is targeted to ship from CA in the next couple weeks. So, not real close. But hey, I’m headed in the right direction! LOL.

Actually, I was headed down a whole different direction when I stumbled across the ability to put a new Hemi in. And brother, I am stoked beyond belief!!!

I bought my A body in bad shape. But, I’ve replaced floor pans, sand and primed a bunch of the bad spots, totally refurbished the dash (looks GOOD!), got my Speedhut guages ready to go in. For me right now, next step is finish couple small welds so I can paint interior and engine bay, and then I’m stabbing my new HEMI BABY!

From there, it’s wiring up, wrapping up interior once everything starts and runs, and then enjoying it while I work on exterior finish out.

This thing has consumed me since I bought it and I can’t wait to hear that Hemi purr, know what I mean? Pics are when I first saw it, and now....

Hey, keep up the good work. I’m closely following as I will be just a few weeks behind you!

Took up 17 straight months of blood, sweat and agony. !@#$! drove it for a year and decided to sell it. That frikkin car was mint perfect. I wish I could find it now...
Back to work!
Oh! Meant to mention. I had a 73 Dart Sport 340, back in the day. She was my 1st paint job. Painted that cool-*** stripe around it and over the top!

Maybe you can shed some light on this for me i have the opertunity to trade some work for a 8.8 from a mustang with disc breaks. Its equal lengths as it is it is lsd rear end, now when you say 8 5/8"... Thats axle to axle? That is what I am being offered

OK To jog my memory back that far, the total 8 5/8" IS total width of the housing. As I remember, the offset was only a couple of inches. With the tape measure, I'd found out that if I narrowed 4 5/16" from both sides, it would be the same stock width and drop right in. Now, I kinda wish I'd shaved another inch from both sides. I got my 8,8 from a yard ($100) Crown Vic. Had to fab up my spring perches and for a lifetime, I do all of my own welding :) The hydraulic fitting are all metric. So you'll have to make some tubing and the Ford to Dodge emergency brake cable connection was just a crafty little SAE/MM coupler.
I probably didn't help much. If you need some better, more specific pics, Just ask. She's up on the stands getting my paint job polished AND I jumped into the idea of custom gauges. Geez...
